I'd be very VERY cautious about where you get a downloader from - if it isn't from blizzard's official servers, there's a good chance it may contain keyloggers which may not even be caught by virus...

Well I tried appending 0-9 to the end of my key, as well as to the beginning, and all 20 keys showed a "cannot be claimed" error as opposed to the 25 char error - but yea - email blizzard...

No, it isn't. Perhaps you're using no-script and haven't allowed worldofwarcraft.com as a trusted domain. Much like the armory, it's an xml page that relies on an xml style sheet and heavy scripting.
