If the router is where your issue is at, then yes. But if the issue is with your ISP... simply upgrading to faster speeds is not going to help in the long run. For example, if there is a cable outside of your house that needs to be replaced, paying for faster speeds instead of getting that cable fixed will be a waste of money.
Rather than spending cash when you might not need to, update your NIC card drivers. That's free, and should be the first step in troubleshooting your issue.
