A . looks better than / imho. I don't think you really need to know your own name, race, class and level on the player frame, do you?
Having the portrait in front of the cast icon is something I'm thinking about for quite some time, too. Haven't tried it yet, because I'm asking myself if the icon is visible enough with the portrait overlaying it. Nice textures.
