Spell / Character sounds?

Greetings all,

First off I'll admit that this is more a technical problem than an interface problem. I have posted on the wow technical forums, asked around in game for weeks and so far no one has been able to answer. Its pretty simple, none of my characters in game have any sound for emotes or spell casts etc. I have played with all the sound settings, disabled my interface and so far no luck. Anyone here happen to know what controls this and how I might go about enabling it again?

I do apologize if this is an inappropriate forum to post this so. I was out of ideas where else to ask about this problem and had hopes that one of the gurus here could help.
