Combat text area

Hey all just playing with 2.4.
Is there any way to make the two black squares where the old combat text used to be into one square to hold chat window number two?

Cheers, AdzA

Okay, this is how I modified the windows to keep the combat text on the right side and private right back where it was. If you follow this step by step, you shouldn't have any issues, but if you do, feel free to ask.

1. Right click the fubar at top. In the drop down list select Prat. Then select Tabs, and then Set Display Mode. Set all displays to default. Close the Waterfall(the window this was all done in).

2. Hold left click on the old Private tab and move it into the middle of the screen. (This is the combat chat window as assigned by Blizzard and is not reassignable.) Rename this window Combat Log, or whatever works for you. Right click the Tab and click settings (This will bring up the Combat Config window). Select Other on the left side and check the following boxes: Experience, Honor, Reputation, Skill-ups, Item Loot, Pet Info, Misc Info. Click Okay in the bottom right of the config window. Again right click the Tab, then select Background and move the needle on the right side bar all the way to the top(This will give it a black background) and click Okay.

3. Hold left click on one of the windows in the bottom right and drag it to where the chat windows are, placing it in the second position. Rename this window Private. Right click the new Private tab and click settings. In the chat category check Whisper only. In the Other category uncheck all currently checked boxes. Click Okay in the bottom right of the config window. Right click the new Private tab, click Background, and move the slider on the right to the bottom. Right click the tab again and lock the window. Right click the tab on the remaining window on the bottom right and remove it.

4. Finally, to move and resize the new Combat Log window. Holding left click on the right and bottom edges of the window will allow you to resize it; and holding left click on the tab will allow you to move the entire window into position on the bottom right.

*Note this is only a temporary fix, once you mazzify again it will change it all back. I do not know how to make it a permanent fix, sorry.

Ok what I did......
follow Flagoren's instructions basically as written, for the Autobar problem. Go to the top right corner of FuBar and pull down to Mazzle options, in there open the Autobar options. In the bar Tab untick "Hide drag Handle" when this becomes visible use it to drag Autobar back to where you want it.
I unlocked both of the original panes (Dmg + Combat) and moved them out of the way then placed my new Combat pane (orig Private but changed using Flagoren's instructions) in the whole space and made it fit then locked it.

I then right clicked the original dmg and combat panes and removed them.

Seems ok now, quite tidy....

Worked great...thanks. I Changed the text color and hid the tab which allowed to maximize the windows height.

I have a problem with the new combat log. Normally the filter is at the top of the window. In my case it is in the middle of the window, very short and I cannot choose any filters (which wouldn't make sense in the middle of the screen anyway).
I know some addon ist causing this because the problem was gone when I deactivated all addons. I couldn't find out which one yet.
Maybe anyone has/had the same problem?

You can, if you right click the new window (Combat?) and pull down to settings. In there are the settings to allow/disallow anything you like, I've set mine not to show a lot of that spam now.

Just to add my 2 cents:

After moving one of the 2 right windows back to left to become the new Whisper window, I moved the other one up above the right bottom pane and made it transparent. It now displays just loot, money, rep and rolls type stuff, per the filters. I let my new combat window (chat frame 2) that is in the place of the previous 2 (since it can only be made so thin) handle the regular combat display filtering it, as well.

This way, I still get to see the loot stuff and it only shows when needed.

Has anyone figured out to disable the floating combat text? I'm still getting that dead center of my screen in addition to being in my new combat log. Disabling it on WoW's interface settings seems to do nothing.

Prat should be in the Chat & Communications category. If you don't have it there, make sure it's actually enabled in Mazzle Options.

My personal solution was to start using CombatFilter (Ace add-on), set up new filters for outgoing and incoming damage, then redirected the log text to chat frame 6 and 7, which are the existing chat frames where the combat log used to be displayed pre-2.4. This had to be done for each character normally, but the LUA savvy can edit the SavedVariables file and copy the settings over to the other characters.

Sure! On a basic level, I created two filters: one for damage caused by me (named it "Outgoing") and one for damage received by me (named it "Incoming").

On the "Outgoing" filter, under "Done by:", I checked myself and the pet boxes, then selected all but auras and spell casting messages in the Event Types tab. For formatting and colours, I picked everything except "Entire line" and "Use verbose mode", since I like the text to be not-so-verbose and have it showing braces for Items. This lets my outgoing damage log to be readable and generally similar to what I was used to seeing before 2.4. The filter output is set to ChatFrame6 for this filter.

For the "Incoming" filter, I selected very similar options overall. Of course, I checked myself and pet under "Done to:" instead of what I did for the Outgoing filter to ensure that it only shows me info on things that happen to me (and any pet I might have). I also selected all event types, since I raid frequently and like to see boss auras/casts/etc logged. For colours and formatting, I used the same options as I did with "Incoming", again to more closely match the output that I was used to pre-2.4. The filter output is set for ChatFrame7 for this filter.

If you do less raiding or more PvP, there are other event types that you may want to check or uncheck, but that's more personal taste. The above should get people started with CombatFilter, though, without having to resort to moving chat windows around and messing with Blizzard's awful combat log interface.

Hope this helps!

Sorry to highjack this thread a bit but last night on my warlock the shard button just above the autobar in this pic moved to the minimap and I can't get it back to this location. Any idea where I need to look to fix that? And the heatlstone button has disappeared altogether.
