Migrating WoW across PCs

I'm over in Iraq and got a new laptop , I don't have the disks to reinstall the game. I know I can dwld it all over again, but that would take a considerable amount of time and I'm don't have the bandwidth down speed to make that "easy" .

I've read and heard before that I could just delete the WTF and migrate the WoW folder over, use the fixit tool and as long as I have an active account I should be able to play.

Thx for replies.

If you can connect the old PC and the new PC (via a network connection, aka PC - Router - PC), you can simply do a copy and paste of your WoW folder. If its a Vista machine, you won't get your settings (you have to dig for those) however if its an XP to XP transfer then you will get your settings. WoW is pretty friendly as far as disk management, as everything (except for settings on Vista) is contained in one folder. It does have one registry setting, however its a temporary one and your new (aka freshly copied) WoW install will simple create it on your new PC.

Yeah WoW is one of the easiest games to transfer from PC to PC.

I usually reinstall my OS a few times a year .. I just burn WoW to a DVD and copy it back once I have a fresh OS install.

No need to delete the WTF folder or run the repair.
