Help with making an icon

Attached is a great picture of an aardvark, which I would like to use as an icon for an AddOn. However, I don't know how to use GIMP all that well, and don't own Photoshop.

What I'd like is no background, just the cute animal, in .tga format please and thank you.

The icon will (hopefully) be displayed in Broker panels, as a mini map icon, and also possibly in the settings of the AddOn. I don't know if that matters, or if multiple icon sizes need to be created. The last time I looked at WoW icon sizes they had to be 64x64 but I don't even know if that's true today. I do know the attached image doesn't conform to those measurements, and I am perfectly happy with height and width not being equal, so long as all the fuzzy adorable critter is there, and if WoW supports 512x1024 or whatever.

Yep, I really don't know anything!

If anyone is up to the task, I'd be grateful, thank you.

Try this. It's not .tga, but it's PNG and uploaded losslessly

just realized it kept the thing between the rear legs. Give me a second I'll remake and reupload.

https://imgbox.com/iA4mP4x7 it's not super great with all those little hairs coming off of the legs, but you might like this one better.

The sizing restrictions still apply, a power of two (not just divisable by two) along the sides (4, 8, 16, 32, 64 etc.) but it doesn't have to be the same size on both sides 32/32, 32/64, 128/512, 64/16 etc.

With Gimp you can Export to .tga and just accept the defaults.

I took a shot at this. It loses more of the fuzziness than Terenna's, but has cleaner edges. Without an incredible amount of time (and more talent than I have) you can't have both. The attachment is 1024x512, TGA. If you need another size let me know.

Thank you MuffinManKen. I'll check both versions out, but unless someone is viewing these icons from space, I think the sizes will be fine

I meant that you might want a smaller version.

I would guess that GIMP will be able to resize it okay, but I don't have a lot of experience with it so I'm not sure. I would figure out the biggest size you actually need and then distribute that.
