Simple install Question

Just a simple question. This is my first time downloading and installing some of the simpler mods. In the WOW Files, there was already an interface folder made, I went made another sub-folder ADDONS and then made another sub-folder for each mod that had to install. Does that sound about right. Do you have to change the name of the folders to anything special, I just labeled my folders Interface1 and so on. I logged into WOW and didnt see the Mods I had Downloaded. They were simple Mods, Netstats, and Vinstainfo, which seem pretty simple. Any help would appreciated.

Thanks

You had it almost right. Our FAQ outlines how to install a mod:

1. Download your chosen interface

2. Extract the files to a folder on your desktop.

3. Open your WoW folder. Probably something like:

C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft

4. In the WoW folder, create a new folder called Interface (if it doesn’t already exist)

5. Open that folder, create another one inside it, called AddOns (again, if it doesn’t already exist)

6. Open the AddOns folder

7. Copy the files from the folder on your desktop into the AddOns folder

8. Your final path should look like:

C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\MyModFolderA\Files
C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\MyModFolderB\Files
C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\MyModFolderC\Files

9. Log into game.
Where it says "MyModFolderA", it should be the name of the folder that the mod creates itself, ie:

C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\NetStats\Files

Clear as mud?

One More, Is there any special way of spelling this stuff out. I thought I seen someone mention spelling addons, AddOns. Does this make a difference.

Thx Again

Some say yes, others say no. I (personally) make it a habit of making sure I follow the same case rules as was there originally (ie how Blizz has it in default), but then again, I also still know how to use dos and unix/zenix and I've done some coding, in all of which case definitely matters

I got home, and did my thing and it worked but some of the mods in CTMod1.75 in the addons buttons at your character login said dependancy missing, I got a couple other small mods like Netstat and VistaInfo work fine. Sorry to keep bugging.

Thanks

What that message means is that the mod(s) you have chosen require some other mods to function properly. Which parts of CTMod were you wanting to use, and which did you not get? I can hopefully tell you which ones you have to have in order to use the ones you want, and if I can't, Cide and TS both frequent this board as well, and I can direct them to this thread to help.

Having same Problem

I have the same problem, so I read your post and just installed every Mod that CTMod has available. The only one that worked was the Timer one, and there is no Icon on the minimap like the install instructions say should be there. I checked my directory and everything is ok (no subfolders in my mod folders and such). Also, some of the Add-ons appear as yellow and say they are enabled, but how can I get to them if there is no Icon to click on by the mini-map.

Please help,
SackaNuts

I just read that some of the Mods have to have CT_MasterMod. What is that and where do I get it....is that the missing part I need?

At this point, I think you're best off removing all mods you've downloaded and reinstalling the complete CT_Mod set from their website.

CT_Mod Website

To remove all existing mods, go to

C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns

And delete all the sub-folders .

The mods that I installed were, CT_LevelMod, CT_QuestLevel, and CT_MapMod, I was wanting to play with the mods to see which ones I might like, But didnt know if I had to install all of the mods or not. If I need to, I will go ahead and install all the mods and see what happens.

Thanks for any help

You need CT_MasterMod, it's part of the Core download, that's the main "controller" portion of the mods.
