New Content Patch Tomorrow - 3/22/05

The content patch everyone has been waiting for gets released tomorrow. The following is posted in the General Forum on the Blizz website:

Eyonix, 21 Mar 05

The new content patch you've been waiting for will be available after tomorrow's weekly scheduled maintenance. In order to make the patch available at that time, we need to extend the maintenance by an additional two hours. The realms will be taken down at approximately 5:00AM PST instead of at the normal maintenance time, and made available again at 11:00AM PST. During this time, forum login will be unavailable. Once the realms are live, players can immediately download the patch by simply connecting to the game. Complete patch notes can be found by following the link below. We wish to thank everyone who helped us test this patch on the new test realm.

Blizz Thread here.

Of particular interest to us are the changes to the default UI:

- You can now have multiple action bars onscreen at the same time. You can activate the additional action bars through the Interface options menu.

- You can now have quest completion criteria for the quests you are currently on display on the game screen as well as in the quest log. If you shift-click on a quest in the quest log, it will display the completion criteria on the main game screen underneath the mini-map.

- You will now be able to tell how many other players in your group have the same quest you do. When you are in a group, it will display the number of other players in the group who have the quest in parenthesis to the left of the quest name. If you mouse over the quest name, it will display the names of the other players in the party who have the quest in the bottom right hand corner of the screen.

- Chat bubbles have been added to the game. Now when a player or NPC uses a /say or /yell chat command, it is displayed in the game screen by default as a chat bubble as well as in the chat log. It displays above the head of the character talking, but only if you can see the character. This functionality can be turned off should you desire. This functionality also exists for party chat, but is turned off by default. Both options are turned on or off in the "Interface" options window.

Please remember, you may be able to run your existing UI mods by turning off Version Checking under the AddOns button on the Character Select screen. Please allow the authors of your favourite UI mods a couple days to patch before bugging them.
