Gaming Pad

What are your thoughts on this?

http://store.razerzone.com/store/raz...oryId.40856700

I need a new pad. I bought an HP Voodoo pad and in 7 months the damn thing is warped. There are moments when I hit a certain spot and I lose all movement because it can't read off the pad. Pisses me off.

I went all over Austin today trying to find something and had zero luck. Best Buy, Frys, and Altex had jack.

Can't say I've tried the pad you linked. Though I would imagine from the look of it that warping over time (partially due to use and the heat from both hand and to a lesser extent the mouse) will likely still be an issue if it's made of plastic. Though I've heard on more rigid plastic surfaces running them under warm water and flexing them can help correct that.

I use a Rocketfish mouse pad.

Its made of aluminum so it's not going to warp from simple use. Had mine well over a year and love it. I haven't had any tracking issues with it. My only complaint is it can get a little cold to the touch. Surprised best buy didn't have one there. Its an in-house brand.

They had that one, I looked at it and put it back.

Didn't know if I would like it.

Worth a go. You get a full refund if you return it. Something like a 30 day return policy. I decided to give it a try when I had the same issue you did. Warping mouse pads were driving me crazy.

Same here.

I got that HP Voodoo from there awhile back. Now it's so warped that I hit those spots and my mouse stops working. Pisses me off because it seems to happen in a raid LOL.

Holy moly, you're in Austin too?

I've never used a hard pad - in fact, my current mouse pad is a cheap document folder, cut up a bit, and duct-taped to my desk...

Works a treat, as long as you don't use a white one - and cheap to replace ($0.50 or so gets ya two of them *grin*).

Hah, yes sir.

You in Austin I presume?

You know, this mouse pad pissed me off I just threw it out of my office.

I have a really nice L-shaped art table I got from IKEA. I wanted it because I'm tall and I really hate the standard height of desks (I can heighten this one to as tall as 5-1/2 feet and it's steel framed built so it takes the weight.

I'm using my mouse on it and it actually tracks VERY nice. It's a really nice wood top that's treated in very dark, almost black, coloring.

Hell I may not bother with a mouse pad now.

The finish on your desk will wear out if you use your mouse directly on it. Invest in a pad unless you don't mind wearing out an area on your desk.

It will also wear down your mouse more than a "good" pad i reckon.

I use a huge steelseries cloth pad, mostly because i used too play quake, had no issues with it so far.

Yeah, worse case I just order and ship it to my friend in Germany.

Question, can you send me the measures on the pad? I can't find it listed on the interwebs. I am curious how big it is. MM is fine, I can convert to that pesky US spec.

Danke

I have a Razor Vespula and a razor Ironclad. Picked both them up online on razor's website. They are both equally nice pads. I like the Ironclad because it is Larger then a normal pad, it allows more movement. . But they botrh work well with my 2 gaming mice. I have a razor mamba and also a cyborg R.A.T 7.

Just depends on the amount of money you would like to spend.

I just went to the used parts store http://www.halted.com/ and bought a piece of recycled metal. You could also choose a thick chunk of acrylic or something, too, http://www.tapplastics.com/ Another good choice is wood; a bamboo cutting board is very hard and has a good tactile surface and texture that the mouse can read... Although if you're exceedingly cheap those grilling or smoking planks; they're often in yellow cedar which is soft and smells nice. ^-^

Personally, I just made my desk of redwood with a pull-out surface for my keyboard and trackball. I mean, why fool around with these things when I can get a chunk of rolled aluminum or copper cut to size?

I ended up going back to Fry's and got me a Logitech G19, Logitech C910 1080p HD web cam, and a Razer Vespula.

I have a bad addiction, I can't just go into a store and walk out with nothing.
