I just got a new desktop with windows 7 on it. I've installed wow and trying to add carbonite to my wow folder. Well that's where my trouble is. I've looked every where and I can't figure out if i might have installed it to the wrong area or if I did it right and I just didn't do something else right. I need help please!!??

Easiest thing to do is right click your WoW Icon and choose properties. The path you see listed in the Properties box is the path you need to install addons to.

Unhappy Looking for response to this post.

I just upgraded to windows 7 after using vista w/o problems, on login I get the carbonite info box with all the tips and the box asking if I want to consolidate the maps. if I click no it goes away and I am left with game minimap. If I click yes it reloads the ui and then both boxes return and map doesnt change, everything else seems to work though. deleted and reinstalled carbonite also.

Windows 7 has changed where WOW is intalled. It's in C:\Users\Public\Games I believe instead of in C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft.

I hope that helps everyone out.

Except for one thing: Window's 7 didn't change the install path for World of Warcraft. Blizzard did.

Yes, this change was put in for Vista when 3.0 came out in October '08.

And Blizzard, along with most other game developers, changed it because Microsoft changed the way the security is handled on Protected areas of your computer, like the Program Files folder.

Your games will perform faster in the C:\Users\Public\Games folder due to reduced security on the folders there.

I started with W7 RC 64 and upgraded that (yes you can upgrade RC to RTM though MS says you can't) to W7 HP 64 and have not had any problems.
If you are having problems, make sure the addon is installed in the correct folder, especially if you did not install WoW to the default folder/drive.
