Firewall suckage

Just bought a new laptop, and can no for the life of me figure out how to make the firewall let WoW thru. I've opened all the ports, even completely uninstalled anitvirus in an attempt to let it run WoW, no go. I'm using Mcafee security suite (which works perfectly on my other 4 comps) but for some reason WoW gets to the Success! stage and then redirects to server selection...any ideas? My thanks, in advance for any/all help~

That usually happens when your home realm is down. Check if theres rolling restarts going on. If you already GET to server selection, its almost certain that WoW has no problem getting through your firewall at all.

There will be rolling restarts today, BUT, having this problem since 2 am eastern time, and realm is up.

The authentication server and the playable servers are two completely different things.


Kendian... have you tried removing the exceptions you have for wow, and then re-adding them to your firewall? If that doesn't work, perhaps try to get some help over on the tech support forums.

Understood. I thought we auth on 80 & 1119, and remain on 1119. My system will establish on 1119 after auth prior to realm selection, suggesting a blocked port would preclude realm selection?

I took this to mean fw was disabled or otherwise out of the pic.
