1 small request, when you do the 25man layout PLEASE do NOT use castbars for the players. MH AoE fest was getting my machine on it's knees in 10-man layout.

v2.00.04 inquiry:

I'm just curious if it was my setup, however, it appears that there is no indication as to whether or not a mob is elite (aside from tooltips). I ran into this problem while AoE grinding near a Manaforge where I was handily tanking 6 belf vindicators until the Arcane Patrol bot thingie jumped into the fray. I thought to myself, "eh ... not elite, I can hang". Needless to say, the bot was in fact super-uber and proceeded to blast this poor belf tankadin to smithereens (to the immense amusement of several alliance who were standing around surveying the spectacle). *hangs head in shame*

Maybe if the border or background of the unit frames some obnoxious shade of warning I might've been more inclined to cut & run ... If there is one, could someone point it out so I can be more aware of it? *grin*

Another strange thing I noticed, sometimes while eating/drinking the Naaru Rations my health does not increase. I do not know if this is a Nui bug or a generic WoW one but a huge anoyance

Hey there everyone... wow... guess I crashed yesterday. Slept for 15 straight hours. I guess that's what happens when you put in 20 hours days for two weeks. ~grin~ But... that battery's recharged and feeling good... just dodging this Florida weather today.

Anyway... lots of things to cover from the last 24 hours, so lemme get to it...

Can you explain more what you mean here? As in sometimes it is in the panel and sometimes it is not? Or something else?

2. Chess Event: When controling a piece the colors on bar 1 seem to be colored as if out of range
I saw this, as well, during the Kara event but didn't remembmer to add it to the list of issues. This is, I presume. the same as the issue with other buttons incorrectly coloring as unavailable such as the Hunter's feed pet spell and the rogue's Distract.

3. Chess event: Dismiss Pet (as in the piece you control) did not show
Are you sure on that one? It was present for me... located in the top center of where the pet/shapeshift/stealth bar is normally located.

Furthermore I had an additional requests:

1 since I am a keyboard guy would it be possible to have the diff layouts keybound ? This would include UF layout but also the Omen/Recount/Map etc.

Yes... keybinding of these features will happen. No promise on the timeline though.

Soforfo -- I saw this as well and spent most of yesterday (before I crashed) working on the aura icons some more... they've become a real thorn in my side ~grin~ But, I *think* I have it sorted out. We'll see after I do this next update.

Pet buffs show timer but a very alphad icons (random issue btw) (aka alpha level a bit higher plox)
There was an issue in all icons that when their order changed they didn't update the alpha on the icons... i.e. if one aura was expiring and thus flashing and that button was replaced with another aura that wasn't flashing, the second aura kept the low flashing alpha of the first button. I think I have that fixed now.

Debufs/Curses timer on target are off (mostly when a second debuff comes in and it has to switch position)
Same problem... the underlying data wasn't changing when the button order changed. Hope it's fixed (fingers crossed) as these rather severe issues with auras are what's holding me up from adding the missing features and making the release /sigh

Buff timers still of now and again (might be related to the debuf timers) Also I believe you calculate the timer diff from the tooltip since there's always at least 1 min diff between the 2
I think there's two different things at play here... one is the obvious issue from the last two items (above). The second is that I don't think Bliz rounds in the normal fashion for timers. I haven't quite figured that out yet. I'm rounding to the nearest 1/10th of a second when I show timers. I think they are rounding up to the next whole second/minute/etc. I'm not sure if I should change my timers to match Bliz's timers or stay with the rounded value. Staying with the rounded value is going to result in an endless stream of people complaining they don't match Bliz's numbers, but changing to Bliz's values is going to be misleading about time remaining. I dunno.

Some more nice to haves:

Debuffs on player, can you tell me where I should see those, I can't seem to find them
At present they are on the player's unit panel. They will be back on the HUD which Lord willing will be back in the UI today.

Latency calc in cast bar
Umm... you mean the blue bar right under the casting bar that's always running slightly ahead of the casting bar? ~grin~

Hide bags bar as an option
This is an excellent idea since the only time I use the bag bar with when I open the keyring... though I was going to add a button to it for the button bag. I suppose I'll have to add a key binding for both of those, as well.

Omen + Recount layout
This is not going to happen. I realized after the idea first came up that in order to do that, those two mods would have to have two different parent frames which is not possible. I could change parents and frame layouts on the fly when you click the button, but that would taint in combat. So there's just no way to do it.

The solution is that I will, eventually, code my own internal threat and damage meter modules and then I can preconfigure them to do this. But that's going to have to wait.

Tagged mobs (could it possible be done like taxi)
I'm not sure what you're asking for here.

1 small request, when you do the 25man layout PLEASE do NOT use castbars for the players. MH AoE fest was getting my machine on it's knees in 10-man layout.
I have seen this, too, recently. But I'm not sure that the casting bars are actually the issue. None-the-less... I can't imagine having 25 casting bars all firing at once ~shudders~ I promise I won't and I'm contemplating taking them out of the 10 man.

The bigger question though is: what is it that's hitting the game engine so hard in large groups. I'm working on that.

Daggumit... I wish I woulda been there for that... a nice bowl of popcorn, a beer and light entertainment... woulda been perfect ~grin~

On a serious note: the elite indicator is tied int the same code as talent spec which is notably absent in the pre-release. I don't know if I'm going to get that tied back in today or not -- depends on how long it takes me to get the HUD back in the code. If I have time, I'll try to get talent build back in today so we'll have the elite/world boss indicators back, as well.

I'm not going to eliminate it being an nUI bug from the list of possibilities, but I think it very highly unlikely... nUI's health is driven entirely by Bliz's UNIT_HEALTH and UNIT_MAX_HEALTH events and then fetched health from Bliz's UnitHealth() and UnitMaxHealth() methods for all player characters (only uses MobInfo2 for mobs) -- so whether or not there is new health and what the value of that health is is strictly a function of Bliz's data set.

Sounds like a Bliz bug to me... but I've been a software developer long enough to know that I should never rule out my code as being at fault. I'll look into it more.

Meh... I guess it's just a case of "pick your poison" -- no matter where you live in the world, it seems, you have to pick the way you want Mother Nature to bend you over the bar... tornadoes, hurricanes, earth quakes, volcanoes, floods, drought, etc. One way or another, no matter where you live, she's gonna have a way to remind you who's in charge.

At least with hurricanes you get to see them coming a week or two in advance... I'll trade wind and rain for a nice climate, bikinis and coconut oil ~grin~

Amen to that, brother!

Central Florida braced for the worst. All schools are closed today, and most tomorrow. I woke up this morning expecting monsoon conditions. But, we have gray skies and some drizzle, that's it. Looks like ol' Fay is cutting east and out to the Atlantic just a bit south of us. That gets us out of the killer NE quadrant, which is good for us.

As long as we don't get a repeat of Charlie. And Francis. And Jeanne. *sigh* THAT was a rough year. 17 days without electricity (and therefore, air conditioning) in August in Florida is a little bit TOO steamy for me. Bikinis and coconut oil or not!

[EDIT]

Hey... based on your newsclip, are you in Central Florida? I'm a programmer who just gave my 2 week notice in Daytona Beach. You're a programmer looking for work. See where I'm going with this... ?

Man... I wish. Yeah... I'm in Central Florida, but I live in Kissimmee... so Daytona is like 1.5 hours in no traffic. Now... if they support telecommute, that's another thing. What kind of programming do you do? (kewl... a fellow geek)

And, yes, so far this has been a non-weather-event-event though the rains have been increasing along with the gusts for the last couple of hours. I think we've still only topped out at about 35mph gusts... your typical afternoon Florida thunderstorm is worse than that.

[EDIT] -- OMG... don't even talk to me about Charlie! Came right over our heads. Even had a tornado go down my back property line... it lifted my porch 10' off the ground and threw it back down on the concrete slab like it was made of day old bread. My house was the only one in the neighborhood without roof damage but only because I had a relatively new metal roof on the house... and even that had some bends from the wind forces and lots of dings from flying debris. We went two weeks with no power, too and omg that was miserable -- especially trying to sleep at night. I would have slept on the back porch had I still owned one. ~lol~

I am glad to hear you are back at it. I have three nights of raids and I have tested the beta 4 version for the last couple of days. I have read all of the bug fixes you are working on and I don't have any to add. I will go back to the old version of nUI for raiding this week because I need all of the bells and whistles for T6.

Keep up the good work, this release is going to be sweet when it is complete.

The weather is one of the main reasons I moved out of Orlando 3 years ago. And even though the Carolinas see their fair share of inclement weather, almost anything beats Florida for me.

See... I'm the other way around... I grew up in Charlottesville, VA and Virginia Beach, Va then was stationed at Ft. Bragg in Fayetteville, NC as well as living in Lexington, NC and High Point, NC and I *hated* the weather in that region... cold, wet, gray winters and hot, sticky summers. The summer in FL could be better, but hot and humid is hot and humid wherever you are. The rest of the year in FL is just awesome in my view and October through March are to die for weather.

All just my opinion, of course.

Exclamation Beta 2 Pre-Release update #5 just went out...

Hello all… here’s the 5th update to the Beta 2 pre-release. Also, for the sake of this post, I've attached two screenshots of the HUD at this point in the game... the first screencap is of the Player/Target HUD (player left, target right) similar to the HUD in the Beta 1. Beta 2 also includes a Health/Power HUD now, as well (health left / power right) which is the second screencap, as well as an easy option to turn the HUD off entirely. Two more huds are planned for the release -- one with no bars... just the cooldowns, etc. that are in Beta 1 and one that uses horizontal side by side bars (no vertical clutter). I hope to have screencaps of those soon.

The key points in this update are that (a) I have tried to reduce game engine load though I am still working to figure out exactly where the FPS leak is. I think it is in the nUI_UnitAura code which I just discovered is missing some key interface code… I’ll be attending to that tomorrow. In any event, you should see improved frame rates though still not where I want them to be. The second key point to this update is, drumroll, the HUD is back… the player’s auras on the target, the cooldowns, threat bar and health race are still missing though and I do expect to get them back in the code tomorrow.

At this point it looks like I should be doing one more pre-release, probably sometime on Thursday. If we don’t hit any snags, we should be ready for public release by the end of the week. So give this pre-release a good going over and let me know what you find.

Finally… to the translation team… I will be sending you folks a new copy of the localization files for translation sometime either Thursday or Friday. I’m going to need to get those back before I can do the public release which I am hoping for by late Sunday or early Monday. If that’s going to be a problem, let me know and I’ll schedule around it.

Thanks to everyone for their continued support!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Known Issues:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

* Some action buttons highlight as invalid/unavailable when they shouldn't... hunter's
feed pet button, rogue's distract, etc.

* nUI_UnitAura does not comply with nUI_UnitFrame parenting interface standard -- oops

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To-Do List
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

* As a matter of record... the ButtonBag is not present in the pre-release, so the minimap
buttons are on the map still and may be showing up physically behind the map. That will
all go away when I enable the button bag.

* Likewise, Fubar and Titan support also not enabled, so the console do not automatically
move with those bars. I will have both of these items resolved today.

* Along the same lines... the 15, 20, 25 and 40 man raid panels are not in the pre-release...
both because I am not quite satisfied with them and, again, I'm trying to not have to fix
everything at once... make sure the core stuff is all working, then add the bells and
whistles if you understand.

* Add bag bar toggle to slash commands

* Experience and reputation bars need to be added back in

* Add location / clock back

* Add ButtonBag back

* Add Talent Build/Spec back

* Add Range Indicator back

* Add Health Race bar back

* Add Threat Bar back

* Add font size options for Chat and Combat log frames

* Add rogue combo points to unit frames (forgot they were on the HUD before)

* Add sorting of raid unit frames by raid group and class

* Add keybindings for unit panel, info panel and hud layout buttons

* Add ability to toggle bag bar on/off

* Add button bag button to bag bar and add keybinding for button bag

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Version 2.00.05 (Alpha)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

* Added HUD functionality back in... player/target and health/power modes as well as a
no HUD mode. Not all Beta 1 HUD functionality is present at this time, however.

* Added percent mana remaining to player, focus and target in party and raid10 panels

* Moved PvP icons to make room for percent mana on player, focus and target party/raid10

* Yet another pass at issues with timers on the buff/debuff aura icons

* Added additional optimization to fully disable tracking/updates on hidden unit frames
in an effort to further reduce game engine load

* Added update deregistration/reregistration to all unit frame modules on enable/disable
to reduce game engine load resulting from hidden unit frame elements

* Removed casting bars from 10 player raid member unit frames to reduce game engine load

OK back,

sorry Tuesdays is my WoW less night so did not have time to read forum etc.

In regards to the "tagged"mobs comment, I was wondering if it would be possible in case somebody not part of your party has tagged a mob (think dailies area where it is everyone for themselve) I have an easier way to identify that instead of continuesly helping others instead of completing my own quests.

So to have an overlay stating "tagged' (or other naming) like we have whenever I am using a TAXI we get huge TAXI on top of my UI.

In regards to the blue line, I will investigate this thing some people refer to as glasses.

Omen remark, when you ahve Omen open you can choose the 4 different Omen profiles (single, AoE, Healing and forgot the last one). I noticed that sometimes my preference was not sticking which would result in Omen not warning me of over agro but also not showing the bars.

I will report back once I get back home to play with rev 5
