Group O Matic

1.0 released.

Here

GOM saves/restores raid arrangements, and can also auto-arrange based on class/spec. Auto and Restore are one-click, no spamming a macro repeatedly, and if you hit Auto it can do the talent scan and the arrange without anything else from you. If you want to change the rules the auto-arrange follows, you can make templates for it (it comes with one for AV and a general one for PvE raids).

Any feedback/criticism would be great. Especially on the auto-arrange since there are lots of views on how players should be arranged; or if you want to suggest a template (or make one) that you think should be included with the addon.

1.1

1.1 has some new stuff in it, but the cool thing is the AB/EotS template which will put people who are currently at the same node into the same group.

thumbs up

Looks good.

One feature request if it's not a huge amount of work.

I'd like the ability to "exclude" or "blacklist" G1 from the auto-arrange.
(Or in any case a group you'll give us.. it could be G8 or any of the least used in current raids)

Reason for that is a group is occasionally setup as "utility".
Where utility = stacking it for melee dps, or stacking it for tank threat,
or stacking it for resistances (think hunter + paladin/shaman for frost/nature tanks on hydross).

So the auto-arrange logic would "skip" raid members in the excluded group.

If it's too much trouble, forget about it... you give us the ability to create our own templates,
it would just mean making per encounter-template on occasion.

Thanks again for sharing your work.

I should also point out that both of the default PvE auto-arrange templates will try to create tanking and melee DPS groups, among other things. If they aren't doing that for anyone out there, then that's a bug that I don't know about, and I'd love any details you could give.

Added group exclusions, you can exclude any/all groups from auto-arranges, restores, and/or saves.

1.3

Finally fixed the talent scan bug that was classifying people as every possible role that their class can fill. >.>

1.4 allows you to change the number of moves sent to the server at a time (which can make the arranges almost instant).

It also doesn't de-select the AB/EotS template if you try to do a raid restore with it selected (now it just ignores it).

Fix for "group full" spam that happened sometimes with a throttle setting above 1.

1.5 adds an MVP list for the auto-arrange. You can put players in it who you want to be picked before others with the same roles.

I've decided on a "pretty-ok" layout for a GUI-based template creator. It won't be nearly as powerful as the scripted templates that you can create in templates.lua, but it will be a lot easier to use. Hopefully this will be working in the next couple days/next week or so.

The next version will also have the ability to manually edit saved raids, or create new ones from scratch; and will have an option to change settings/create saves/templates/etc while not in a raid.

For the GUI template creator, what I'm thinking is basically this:

Screen 1:
-Enter a name, etc.
-How do you want to handle extras: ("Group together in the lower groups" / "Merge into the raid using the default template")

Screen 2:
"Group 1 Exclusions: Limit Group 1 to at most:"
"Number........Class.....Spec"
[<editBox>][<menu>][<menu>] [+] (clicking + will let you add another exclusion)

Screen 3:
"Group 1 Rules: Try to add members to group 1 in this order:"
"Class........Spec........Require...IgnoreSpec"
[<menu>][<menu>][<checkbox>][<menu>][+]

and so forth...

If you have any thoughts about that let me know, it's nowhere near done yet so there's plenty of time to change it. :P
