Thoughts on curse premium

Well i for one will never EVER pay for a membership when they bring it out...
I thought addons were meant to be free ?

And what about the authors of these helpfull mod's they wont be seeing any money will they ?

Curse will be sitting like the fat cat with all the food !

That's why there are donation links to give money directly to the authors.

The premium membership, which will be completely optional, by the way, will just add extra features to the free membership. You can still get the mods for free and access the site for free.

How do you expect these sites to keep running if they don't have any income? Both Curse and WoWI give you so much for free that I can't imagine being so unwilling to not donate a little to help keep them afloat. At least you can get something extra for your money.

As far as I undeerstand it the premium membership will remove the ads and give you some special features like 1-click updating. The addons will be still free to download.

First of all, access to AddOns will ALWAYS BE FREE. Same with use of CC. Just some features of CC such as automatic updates, no ads, and one button updating will be premium features.

Second, Curse will be rolling out Author Rewards for AddOn authors. Details are still sketchy (likely because Curse has not finalized anything) however I have heard of things like authors being able to get things like Game Cards and other goodies.

However let's not bash Curse on the WoWI forums. It makes us look petty. If you have something negative to say about Curse, then take it to their forums.

just pointing out no matter what they offer authors
it wont match the cash theyll be getting...

And who even click's those adds any way i allways make it a rule not to no matter what site im on...

Does not take much for a sneaky git to go drop something malicious in one
i have seen site's plagued by this before now...

Locking this before it gets out of hand. Any concerns people have about Curse should properly be posted on their forums, not ours.
