nUI -- A full feature standalone UI replacement

Hi There,

I'm looking at usign this UI as my new Ui - I have not seen a UI as nice as this for ages - possibly the best out there and many many thanks for your work

There is one thing i desperatly want to be able to change though and thats the action bars. Is there any way i can hide them? I simply cannot use the bliz bars and i want to be able to use a action bar mod like bartender to arrange them how i like - this isnt possible with them visible in this UI.

I cant find any commands to remove them - any ideas on how to do this?

nUI does not use the Bliz bars and you can move the bars anywhere you like using '/nui movers'

That said, it is not possible to remove the bars as they are tightly integrated into the entire UI.

ah, thats helpful, what i have done is typed /nui movers then moved all the action bars as far off the screen as i can get them, the ends pop out but i can replace the ones i want with bartender - its not perfect but it gets rid of the action bars i dont need.

just flexibility. I can have then in whatever shapes i like, vertical or horizontal, in blocks or rows, on autohide on in/out of combat only etc

I have played around a bit more and now i am using both. I am using the vertical UI bars (repositioned to where i like) along with a few bartender bars to compliment them.

The UI's blizzard like scroll bar thing i have moved to the side and have filled up with skills and pet stuff and i have used the middle right bar for foods and stuff.

The two bars either side i am using for food/pots and for quest items and im using the final bar for fun things like pets to summon and comedy wands/snowballs etc.

Its a happy compremise i think and i will be able to use it which is the main thing. Don't take my moanings as me not liking the UI - its amasing, absolutly brilliant, i am just one of those poeple who are extremely fickle and set in my ways and the concept of changing my gameplay is beyind me - i like to have all my useless warlock tools available to me so that once a year, when i find a reason to use my infernal, he is right there ready for me at a simple click of a button

I really look forward to enjoying using this UI )

It's nothing like being offended by your comments, it more about me asking people why they don't want to use the features that are built into nUI in lieu of another mod offering the same basic features... by asking what it is that's "missing" or "undesirable" about what I have written, I can find out what I need to change/improve to broaden nUI's appeal.

I get cranky at folks who ignore all the posts and information that's posted in the help and all the chat boards, then whine, moan, complain or ask stupid questions that have already been answered a million times, but aside from that I take my users very seriously and honestly try to listen to their opinions and suggestions and am always looking for the feedback and input so I can improve the mod.


EDIT: Case in point.. this post appeared on Curse today *after* all the of the posts about the FPS leak, me trying to track it down and looking for profile data to help me pinpoint it...

This UI at the moment sucks the life from a computer. Now i am not using some out of the box 4 year old machine so i know it's not my pc that's dragging. This UI needs a serious upgrade to dissipate the video lag it causes. While in 25 man Naxx last night i would sit and watch my frozen screen for 30+ seconds at a time if there were more than 3 things going on.

That kind of stuff honestly gets deep under my cranky old man skin and frosts my grommets to no end ~lol~ However, thoughtful input on how I can improve nUI is always welcome and valued.

Cool, glad you find it helpful and hopefulyl constructive.

Well i have set it all up now how i like it. I didnt have much joy with bartender as i was getting some issue between the UI's scroll bar and bartender in that buttons were duplicating - i think this may be a bartender issue rather than an issue to do with the UI - however the Ui scroll bar was a problem for me - if i put a spell or item on the scroll abr it also appeared on another action bar slot elsewhere and that was no good for me so i did /nui movers and moved the scroll bar off the screen.

Next i used an addon called Macaroon which is a highly revised version of the action bar addon previously called trinity and this allowed me to add to the action bar slots provided by the UI.

With the exception of the two vertical bars either side of the map i emptied the UI action abrs and created new bars and put them over the UI's one (hope that makes sense!). This allows me to alter the scale/width/heith/stance etc of the action bat but still fits intot he nice UI which is great.

Now I have a very sexy lookign UI and all its great functionality whilst still having the complicated button setup i am used to without having to use the scrolling action bars.

Maybe this is a problem caused by my own issue but none the less i am very pleased so far. I have gotten rd of like 10 addons with this UI and its lookign great and saved me tons of space - cant wait for my next dungeon run or guild raid to see how it goes.

Im going to check it out in action now and see how it copes with parties/groups, raid groups, pets and vehicles/guns etc

Still not where I want to be, but the screen cap below is in a 40 man AV with most of us in the room with Drek (maximum chaos for the game engine) -- the values you see in the little window at the top show my minimum frame rate for the entire BG and the maximum memory usage at any point in the BG.

I've still got some tweaking to do... but getting there.

Dont you just hate those stupid 'you cant do that yet' or other event related messages spammed all over your screen? I do! I use message-redirect to get rid of them. Sure would be nice if something like that was already incorporated into Nui

Seriously though, great Ui man.
These are just some tweeks and fixes i would like to see in Nui.
Why are buffs in the buff bar green?
Timers are almost worthless as they dont scale properly, overlap on buffs and are unreadable on the buttons on the bars.
On my Boomkin the bar beneath the map/combat panel is a clone of the bar used for the boomkin bar.
Now if you can get the ui slider issue resolved and could do something about the massive window that comes up and blocks the map and party frames everytime you enter a vehicle, that would be awesome.

That's the Blizzard default frame iirc. I found a temporary workaround for this. Create a macro:

/run VehicleMenuBar:Hide()

And place it in the first space on the far left actionbar (under the chatbox). That way you can reach the macro icon and it's not covered up by that icky ass frame.

Wow, there's so much that goes into programming things! I know you put many long hours into your work, and "thank you" still doesn't seem to be enough for all you've put into nUI (wish I could donate something to you, but being a single parent makes my funds rather tight).

Im not sure if the mentioned FPS lag is what i am experiencing or if its something completely different.

first off i have to say i love this UI... its great work man and i really appreciate it.

My only problem is that when i was running a heroic it went from using only 5-9MB of memory to 112MB causing massive issues..

I'm really hoping this can get worked out.

i wasn't getting any error messages, just the nUI Mod started taking up massive amounts of memory.

i would really like to use this UI but seeing as how i raid i wont be able to use it on my main characters. as for just leveling its works fine and i absolutely love it.
