Dummy party/raid

First off, love the versatility of oUF. Great mod with such a low footprint and very nice to look at when you configure it how you want.
I'm very new to LUA scripting but no stranger to programming in general so this has been a great teaching tool.
Anyway, I'm looking to mod a layout I found for the raid and party frames but I want to know if there is a chunk of code that I can insert that will show a dummy set of "people" to show up in the frames. It's kind of redundant to go around asking strangers to join a raid or party just to work on a layout.
Any help would be great. Thank you.

Unfortunately, it's not possible with oUF. Best advice is : Use some folks from your guild to sit in a party with It's what I do. They're farming or mucking around, I ask them for a party. For the raidframes, join an AV

Is this the right place to ask for a certain design?

I would like to have something like the (broken) Extended Unitframe Addon had:
1. Standard Blizz UI Unitframes
2. Some LibDogTag way of formatting status info
3. party target frames
4. party cast bars
Is there a layout somewhere that has these features?

Addional raidframes would be nice too (I could ditch sraidframes then).

Low memory/cpu usage is important for me because I have old hardware. Is oUF the right place to look for something like that?

There is a long list of oUF layouts on http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info9994-oUF.html. How do I find out which does what?

If this is not the right thread for these questions please point me to the appropriate place.

oUF_Neav is the only layout I know of that uses the standard Blizz art, but it does not have some of the features you've listed.

Lyn, not sure if you check here, but I'm curious if oUF_Lyn will be updated for the latest oUF release? Seems that his addon page isn't checked often anymore, so trying here.

Another question for the group, if I wanted to add buffs to the raid and party frames, how would I do this? oUF_Lyn doesn't have this feature.

Thanks for the help and patience.

Getting someone to design it for you is unlikely. You're best bet is to take oUF_Neavx like the previous poster indicated, and add the desired statusses to it.

To find out the features of the layouts, check the pages. Most if not all list their features.

Check the lua code for Auras or Buffs or Debuffs, I do think Lyn uses self.Auras but I am not sure. Pry open a few other layouts and try If you can't find it then, ask here with some code. People will help.

Is there any actual way to hide 0 numbers on text fields when im using tag system?

Im creating fonstring like this
Code:
	self.Health.mvalue = self.Health:CreateFontString(nil, "OVERLAY")
	self.Health.mvalue:SetFont(font, fontS)
	self:Tag(self.Health.mvalue, '-[missinghp]')
	self.Health.mvalue:SetPoint("TOPRIGHT", self.Health, "TOPRIGHT", -3, -3)
works just fine, but is there any way to hide value of the field self.Health.mvalue if its == 0 ?

yes but you would have to make a custom tag

Code:
oUF.Tags["[custom]"] = function(unit)
	local m, n = UnitHealthMax(unit), UnitHealth(unit)
	return n == 0 and "" or string.format("-%s", m - n)
end
oUF.TagEvents["[custom]"] = "UNIT_HEALTH UNIT_MAXHEALTH"

Before I start messing with Aura settings in oUF_Lyn, can anyone tell me if there is a way to show "dummy" buffs/debuffs? This will help me configure placement as I'm screwing around.

Also, anyone know if the spark module works still? I tried to use it and no luck.

ok soo been messin with custom tags for health and that sort of thing but i want my heath to be like

1000/1000 then i lose some health and it would read 900/1000
this is the tag i have for the absolute value

Code:
oUF.Tags["[health1000hp]"] = function(unit)
  local m, n = UnitHealthMax(unit), UnitHealth(unit)
  return m == 0 and 0 or n ~= m and string.format("-%s|r", (m - n)) or m == n and m
end
oUF.TagEvents["[health1000hp]"] = "UNIT_HEALTH UNIT_MAXHEALTH"

soo not to sure what i would have to change to make it 1000/1000

I hope i don't misunderstand you, but here goes:
Code:
local r, g, b
local class = select(2, UnitClass('player'))
if class then
	r = RAID_CLASS_COLORS[class].r
	g = RAID_CLASS_COLORS[class].g
	b = RAID_CLASS_COLORS[class].b
end

SetBackdropColor(r, g, b)
Hope this helps!

Perhaps I am being thick for once ...

self.Buffs.filter = "PLAYER"

Can someone be nice and explain those filters... I just wanna see those *I* placed on the people, or is this no longer possible? (It helps me in knowing who's about to fall without a certain buff). If it's not possible, I guess I'll be working with the tag system
