Punk Alert Sound

For some reason, I hear no sound when punks are detected even though the option to display punks and hear the sound is checked. I've tried unchecking it and then rechecking it. I've also tried resetting the interface (/re) and also restarting my computer system. Could there be another setting somewhere else which can prevent that particular sound? All other sounds in the game work properly. The punk alert sound used to work, but I haven't turned it on for quite a long time. How can I get it to work again?

I did a search of these forums and the only reference I found, which was more or less related to it, was from a thread over 2 years old (2012).

**Can anyone else hear the punk alert sound, or am I the only one that cannot hear any sound at all?
