Fubar-Compat-1.2 Dependencies
Bug #: 1992
File: FuBar 3.6.5
Date: 08-27-06 02:32 PM
By: FaustusX
Status: Unconfirmed
Hi:

New to FuBar, so had the opportunity to find this. The Fubar-Compat-1.2 library put out with Fubar 2.0 on 8/25/06 has a dependency on the old Ace 1.3.1 package. In my add-ons interface it showed "dependency missing" until I put the old Ace into the addons folder as well. Ace 2.0 did not fix the problem. This seems contrary to the philosophy desired for Fubar 2.0, so I thought I would sign up for this site and post this.

This also held true for the following fubar add-ins, all of which worked once I put the old "ace" package into my interface/addons folder (some of which I think were updated to 2.0):

AmmoFu
BagFu
ClockFu
DurabilityFu
EmoteFu
ExperienceFu
HonorFu
MoneyFu
ScreenswitchFu

All of the above run fine with the old Ace library loaded, Ace2 does not appear to have any impact. The list of plugins did not really surprise me, but the Fubar2-Compat-1.2 refusing to load without the Ace-1.3.1 loaded did surprise me. Removing Ace-1.3.1 and reloading Warcraft re-creates the dependency consistently.

However, the following add-ons run just fine without either Ace or Ace 2.0

KungFu
PerformanceFu
LocationFu
tcg Tradeskills

Please forgive if this is how these add-ons are intended to work.

Thanks,

FaustusX

This is not a but.

FuBar-compat-1.2 is the module that makes FuBar plugins for v1.2 work with 2.0, and since 1.2 was ace 1.3 it of course requires ace 1.3 to be installed.

Also, the plugins you list has not yet been updated to to 2.0 and therfore requires ace 1.3 (and FuBar-compat-1.2).

Makes sense. Like I said, new to Fubar, wanted to report it. Perhaps someone should add some of this information into the Fubar2.0 installation FAQ. I had no idea. Your explanation is completely rational, I was just completely ignorant of it, being the first time I ever used or installed FuBar.

Thanks. Its a great add-on.

Faustus, just another quick note. you mentioned "the following addons run juts fine without either ace or ace2.0" etc.

you do not need an Ace2 folder in your Interface\Addons.

make sure you delete it if you're just an end user like us however, if you're an author/developer, you will probably be using it.

to sum it up, leave your Ace directory alone (it's still used for the older ace mods!!) and delete the Ace2 directory.
