On the continent maps, capital cities get special icons. Without cartographer, clicking on a capital city will take you directly to the capital city map. However, with cartographer installed, clicking on capital cities from the continent map takes you to a totally random zone map. It's not even the same random zone map each time.
For example, from the Kalimdor continent map, clicking on the Ogrimmar capital city icon might take you to the zone map for Desolace.
