I'm not sure if this is a bug, or just something you didn't add for some reason, or something that isn't possible for certain events. On some events, you can check the box to have the message trigger at the start of the cast instead of at the end. But for some, that isn't an option.
For example, Hearthstone. I wanted to create a message that triggered when I started to use it, but there is no option for it there. It seems like it would be easy to do, since a macro to do the same thing is easy to make. But of course, you only have so many macro slots, which is why this mod can be useful, for frivolous things like humorous chat messages. No taking up a macro slot better used for a complicated cast-sequence macro that'll save your bacon. . .
