Qorey's Buff Bars

Version: 1.0.7
by: qorey [More]

Qorey's Buff Bars is another buff bar mod based off of SimpleBuffBars with added functionality to help you manage not only what buffs you are missing in a raid or party, but also help you locate specific buffs by colorizing them by name. This is the first official release of this mod by request of others so expect there to be minor issues and please review the list of known bugs at the end of this post. I do not take credit for the original work - the original work was completed by Shadowed of WoWinterface.

Notes from the wife:
*** If you have buffs showing up as a GRAY bar, please report them here, as those are things that haven't been given a category yet and need to be added to the table. Thanks! ***

Features include:

  • Customizable colors based on the buff's name, narrowed down into specific categories - Proc Buffs (Trinkets, Idols, etc), Class Specific Buffs (Molton Armor, Eclipse), Boss Specific Buffs, Important Buffs (flasks, well fed), Tracking/Healing Buffs (Rejuvination, Find Minerals, Renew, etc), Normal buffs (Blessing of Kings, PW: Fort, etc)
  • An all new Missing Buff Bars that are attachable to any other grouping (buffs, debuffs), or freely movable. See below for more details.
  • Right clicking on a "Missing Buff: " bar wil spam raid or party depending upon your group status, and will do nothing if you're solo.

The Missing Buff Bars are what I like to call "smart" bars, meaning they will only show up if:
  1. You can provide the buff yourself (Mage - Arcane Int, Priest - PW:Fort, etc)
  2. A class in your party (or raid) can provide the buff [For example, you will not see that you're missing Divine Spirit if you do not have a priest in your party]
  3. You do not already have the buff
  4. If the buff benefits you in some way. [For example, if you're a rogue, you'll never see: Missing: Blessing of Wisdom or Missing: Arcane Intellect]
The Missing Buff Bars will also track if you're missing "Well Fed" and a flask, but only in a raid, and you have to be zoned into an instance. (This is to prevent these missing bars from showing up in a battleground.)

Configuration commands:
/QBB
/QoreysBuffBars

Known issues:
  • Add Dalaran Intellect to the list of AI buffs - Completed!
  • Disabling icons in the configuration menu will not remove the icons until you /reload
  • If you're a paladin, it will always show you missing all 4 blessings. I'm debating how to handle this, and will probably make it so if you're solo or in a party, to remove all missing bars if you have one blessing on you. Otherwise I'd have to make a count of how many paladins in your party/raid and possibly determine a priority list to ensure you have the best blessings possible... ugh

"To Do list" in no order:
  1. Add an option to remove icon borders
  2. Add an option to add a font outline
  3. Fix Bugs, and report any original author
  4. Add an option for flashing bars when the buffs are about to expire
  5. Add cooldown timers for spells with internal cooldowns (Eclipse/trinkets)
  6. When right clicking a Missing Buff, have an option to whisper everyone in the raid/party that match the class that gives the buff.

If this was going to be implemented in the future, it probably won't be anytime soon, I'm sorry. I'll send him in here tomorrow to let you know.

Re: Mount

I will let him know about the mount bug, did you notice it with any other mounts?

We *might* be able to add texture support, but it probably won't be in the form of button facade unless we can figure out how to implement it. Maybe just a border texture in the code that you can change in a media folder or something? Not sure if he's game on this idea yet, but we'll let you know.

I like things to match too

Mount "buff" bug?

I had a short session last night and noticed an odd behavior, I didn't have time to test it really as I wanted to play in the short time I had.

I have the horde AV mount and I noticed that it would show up on the buff list (good) but when I dismount it wouldn't drop off (odd) but when I remounted it would add a second mount "buff" and that would stay as well when I dismounted (bad). I only use that mount so I didn't test to see if happens with other mounts.

It would never show more than two and it never showed any UI Errors. A /rl would clear it. Also after being dismounted for more that 5 min they would drop off the buff list (I wasn't watching the time, I just noticed after dismounting then running in and out of caves grinding on Ogre Mobs for lock boxes in Burning Steppes and not being mounted for a while).

The only improvement I would ask for is the ability to texture the Icons so i can match them to my action bars (I haven't looked yet to see if this is possible)

Unfortunately, this won't be implemented. This would require MUCH recoding of the mod. Sorry for any inconvienience.

You already can move the debuffs seperate of the buffs, just go to the menu and change the anchor to none.

Another request from Tankspot;

Grabbed the mod and have been trying it out - I like the fact that it colors certain buffs differently ( rather than Elk's which just has them all the same color. )

The GUI for configuring is nicer than Elks and I like the 'Missing Buffs', although it still needs to be fixed when you have a paladin in your party.

What I miss tho, is that I can't separate the categories more. Elk's at least lets you move the buffs window to a separate spot than the 'Debuffs'. I know this mod has the ability to space them out, but it'd be nice to be able to create a whole different group and have it completely separate and moveable. When you constantly have buffs coming and going in a fight and you need to pay attention to a certain debuff, sometimes it takes a second to locate where the heck the debuff window went ( either up or down ).

What makes it worse about all of this is if you're a tanking class. It will also check if you have blessing of Sanctuary. if I was getting that specific with these buffs, and counting how many paladins I have, etcetc, I would also have to verify the character's tanking spec to verify if blessing of sanc is even useful to you. This would be easy for any class except DK, which "can tank with any spec lol!" so in the end it would still bug "someone." Unless I can think of a better way to handle this entire mess, I'd rather keep it as is. I already have it verifying the spec for classes like Druids and Shamans to verify what flask would be required (melee, caster, healer).
How about giving the ability to hide the remaining missing debuffs? For instance, if I get a certain blessing or if no one has a feast, I'd like to be able to shift right-click the missing buff in question to just get rid of it. I don't need a constant reminder that no one has a feast or that I'm not going to be getting a certain blessing. Maybe automatically unhide all missing buffs when someone leaves/joins the party.
