BindingsReminder  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 1.0-30200
by: Lothay [More]

Simple mod that shows you a keyboard layout with buttons that have some sort of action associated with them highlighted.

Use /br show to show the keyboard
Use /br hide to hide the keyboard (or click the X in the upper right hand corner)
Use /br layouts to list the available layouts (I am accepting additional layouts)
Use /br layout dvorak to switch to dvorak layout
Use /br layout qwerty to switch to qwerty layout

See screenshots.

* Works with 4.2 - June 30, 2011

There is a Description. Use a braincell...

its pretty clear to me what it does. It doesn't require a wall of text to explain it.

here let me explain the description I read:

It is a simple display of your keyboard that highlights (in red I believe) what keys you have bound to something. It apparently reads your keybindings and shows the buttons that have a binding.

I could see it coming in handy only once in a while when you are laying out a different Keybinding scheme on your keyboard.

Don't Tweek... just relax.

Of your 5 total posts you wasted a post on something like this? More power to you.

AS far as the original comment is concerned, I was lazy. I have never been one to be overly verbose in my addon descriptions but I hope the 2 screenshots I have uploaded provide enough of an explanation.

Let me know if you think I should write more for the description.

Integrate with Spellbinder

I have an idea for an improvement on your mod: Allow people to bind using your interface. Since the interface shows you where you have things bound currently, a person could click or rightclick on a button, a drop down menu will pop up with a list spells/actions/macros from a characters spellbook (Similar to Spellbinder) For modifier bindings, I would suggest a person be able to click the modifier buttons on the interface, it will highlight the modifier button and highlight red all buttons that are currently bound under that modifier, then they could simply click the button they want to bind and the same drop down of action/spells/Macros would pop up. I hope I didn't ramble too much in my description and my idea is clear.

How would you have me add support for it? What would my support do?

Interesting idea. How useful would it really be though, for the amount of work required? And how intuitive is this configuration?

Very useful mod

Thank you! This is just what I was looking for. You helped me find those last few keys I still had available.

I see a dvorak.lua in the mod's layout folder, though I don't see a way to toggle it. Perhaps it's autosensing?

It takes some hackery to get the dvorak layout configured. I figured there were like a total of 5 people who used dvorak and of those 5 people none would actually download :-P

Try uncommenting the last line in dvorak.lua

How incredibly useful is this? My vote? Many. Many useful. Or a Lot useful. Simple, and straightforward and helpful. What a mod should be. perhaps, well... ok, I'm tired and in a goofy mood, but I thank you for the creation of the mod and look forward to checking out my bindings without scrolling for three days to get to the bottom of the list only to forget what was at the top. Seriously. Thanks.

Possible problem with the XML

Please check the \World of Warcraft\Logs\FrameXML.log for errors. Mine contains:

4/26 23:51:38.463 ++ Loading file Interface\AddOns\BindingsReminder\BindingsReminder.xml
4/26 23:51:38.463 Couldn't find relative frame: CENTER

With the last line repeated about 100 times. I think the fix is to change the line:

<Anchor point="BOTTOM" relativeTo="CENTER"/>

to:

<Anchor point="BOTTOM"/>

At the moment your addon doesnt show up when i have mybindings2 enabled, i would like to see it work along side with mybindings2 if possible.
