CoolLine  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 8.0.002
by: totalpackage, Phanx, Uitat

CoolLine is a spell/item cooldown mod that displays icons on a single bar/line to give you an idea of when it will be ready. No statusbar timer and no text timer.

CoolLine is inspired by Forte_Cooldown (a module in the ForteXorcist package). CoolLine is basically a stripped down and standalone version written from scratch. The name comes from putting "cooldown" and "timeline" together (yes, lame).

YouTube Intro

How to Use

  • Change settings - "/coolline" or check Interface Options -> AddOns
  • Change position and size - unlock to make it draggable and resizable
  • Filter/unfilter a spell or item cooldown - "/coolline Spell Item Name Link"
  • Add more fonts/texture - CoolLine uses LibSharedMedia

External Support
  • CoolLine.NewCooldown(name, icon, endtime, isplayer)
    • name - unique string id of the cooldown, used as a look-up id
    • icon - string icon path used to display image on the bar
    • endtime - numerical time when the icon should expire, based on GetTime()
    • isplayer - boolean value used to determine if the icon is colored by spell
  • CoolLine.ClearCooldown(unused, name)

Notes
  • Only one spell/item will be shown in an event that multiple spells/items share the same cooldown (whichever appeared first).
  • By design, icons will often overlap; if you do not like it, this type of cooldown mod is not for you.
  • What you see is what you get. If you like the idea of this mod but want more, I highly suggest checking out ForteXorcist or Ellipsis. I'll most likely ignore requests to make CoolLine more similar to them.
  • CoolLine only does spell/item cooldowns and NOT buff/debuff cooldowns, flight timers, time til enrage, etc; this will NOT change so don't ask.

Recently, I (TotalPackage) had some requests for donation info, so here it is. Do not feel obligated; donations (or lack of) will not determine what features I do or do not implement.

You seem to be gathering a mountain of add ons to maintain :P
If you'd like I can help with several classes to check for cooldowns and the likes. And of course; I know alpha's eat puppies and create kittens :P

Yes, I've just tested it again and Mortal Strike doesn't show. I've tried filtering it and then removing it from the filter again to see if that might help but unfortunately it didn't.

Edit: Good news on the update - will be looking forward to that

Yes, I've been very busy this week and haven't had any time for WoW stuff. I did notice that all the spells people have been complaining about are talents, so it should be fairly easy to fix, I just need to find time to do it. I don't know if I'll have time this weekend either, as I'm prioritizing the work I need to do on Grid, but it will get done in the next couple of weeks at the latest.

Edit: Are you sure it's not working with Mortal Strike? That's not a talent spell...

Does this mean the addon will be maintained?

I've installed Coolline Fix but there are several cooldowns it doesn't help with, including Mortal Strike (Warrior), Glaive Toss (Hunter) and Ice Nova (Mage). Those are just the ones I can remember on the top of my head and there are several others mentioned in this thread.

I understand that you don't have infinite time and that fixes may take longer than I would prefer so I'm not trying to be a dick or force your hand. I would just like to know if it's reasonable to hope for Coolline to work in WoD or if it's time to look for an alternative.

Phanx, I just gave you rights to manage this mod on here and on Curse. Go with it if you want.

CoolLine isn't really being maintained actively -- the author hasn't been playing WoW in several years now -- so the chances of getting any new features added in the main addon are pretty much nil. I can add features and fix bugs from CoolLineFix, though, so here is my feedback on your requests:

I'm not interested in these features, and I suspect Totalpackage isn't either. If you want more extensive configuration options, and more frames in more places on the screen, you should use another addon, like Raven or Ellipsis, or even Forte if that's still alive.

Agreed, and I'd like to eventually add an actual config UI in CoolLineFix, but my time is not infinite, so I don't know when/if I will ever actually have time and motivation to do this.

Totalpackage has explicitly declined to add such options in the past, and I'm inclined to agree. If you need more configuration, you should use a more configurable (but less lightweight) addon. The goal of CoolLine is to work out of the box and not require (or allow) a lot of fiddling with technical parameters.

What cooldowns are those?

I have a few suggestions. I've recently decided to abandon ForteExorcist's cooldown bar in favor for this addon (mainly because it's actively being maintained). I have greatly enjoyed your mod as it's simple, clean, and functional... yet there are a few features I miss from Forte that would further increase the appeal of this mod (at least for me!):
  • A movable "splash" frame when the cooldown completes... currently locked to the end of the bar. Bonus points for X/Y coordinate options for frame center, scaling and opacity options.
  • A whitelist/blacklist feature. I'd like to be able to ignore all items in my bag EXCEPT healthstones.
  • A menu that isn't a "context" menu but rather ingrained in a "stuck" UI pane... it was extremely annoying to set this up and having to repeatedly type "/coolline" over and over and over.
  • The ability to modify the min & max cooldown time that appears. With Forte, I could set my max to 3 min (and the logarithmic bar would automatically adjust). Additionally, I like to set the min cooldown time to 5 seconds to avoid any super-short weird cooldowns from showing up.

Does it save any other settings? If not, then CoolLine's saved variables file is probably set as read-only or is just corrupted; just delete the file and start over.

Hello everyone using CoolLine.

I've found this addon pretty useful and great. Only having a few issues. It seems like CoolLine isnt tracking my talent-spells, for example as huntter its not tracking Barrage . I've tried to download CoolLine fix addon also, but its not helping. When i type in game /coolline Barrage, it says barrage added to filter, but actually nothing happens.

Would be awesome if someone could help me to fix this!

Thanks alot for reading and paying attention to this comment!

Coolline Fix doesn't help with Mortal Strike (Warrior) or Glaive Toss (Hunter) either.
