Recipe Radar  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 1.403
by: kernighan, ladenedge

Recipe Radar assists players in finding recipes. It knows about vendors who sell recipes in the current region or by profession. It has a number of filtering options and can even locate vendors on the world map.

Classic version available at: https://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info25229-RecipeRadarClassic.html

Tips:

  • There are two "tabs": the main "radar" tab and one that searches by profession!
  • You can bind a key to Recipe Radar through the main menu!
  • There are lots of filtering options - use the dropdowns to customize Recipe Radar!
  • Some internal maps are inaccurate at this time, it is currently a work in progress to fix these up.

Don't change the .toc file!

KVLtv, I realize you mean well, but it isn't necessary - in fact, it's downright risky - to change the .toc file to force out of date AddOns to load.

Instead, on the game character selection screen, click the AddOns button in the lower left hand corner, then tick the checkbox next to "Load out of date AddOns" above the window with your AddOn list.

A little fix for WoW 2.2

I have come to rely on Recipe Radar in the brief time since I began to use it. It's a brilliant AddOn! Like many other players, Blizzard's upgrade of WoW to 2.2 caught me off guard and I've been frantically trying to get the updates for the AddOns that I use. I've been a little frustrated by the experience, since 2.2 seems rather picky and doesn't seem to want to load an AddOn that hasn't specifically been updated for v2.2. However, WoW will load an AddOn if the AddOn .toc file tells WoW that it is for version 2.2. Basically what this means is in order to get WoW to load the AddOn all you need to do is to make the first line in the AddOn's .toc file read:

## Interface: 20200

I decided to help things along by changing the first line in the .toc of the AddOns I couldn't live without, but was unable to find the updates for. The result is that the AddOns do load and seem to work. I don't know how stable they're going to be, but if you're reading this because you like Recipe Radar and it isn't working for WoW 2.2 . . . open up the document titled RecipeRadar.toc with a text editor and change the first line as mentioned above.

Nonetheless, Mr. Miller's Recipe Radar is simply awesome! Thanks ladenedge!

Updated Vendors

Great Mod....love it

The only thing I noticed missing, and from my reading learned that you personally can not fix it, is too add missing Vendors. I thought maybe that I could manually map or add vendors as I came crossed them, but guess not. This would be a really Kewl Fix if it could be implemented, or maybe have an automated something or other to plot them to your database so the Author can add them.....

Anyway, Love the add on, please keep it up..... Great Work

This addon causes a few issues.

1. It disables tracking icons
2. Opens ATSW when it's window is opened.

wrt localization, did you think about trying to mine from the armory?
It's a bit work wrt the scripts since you have to tell by http header which language you want but the data is most likely up2date and official.

Brilliant mod, i wish i found this one sooner. One thing tho, when i learn a new recipe, the recipe window doesn't update with the new information that i have learned it, i.e. it still show the recipe as green, not until i have closed and reopened the window does it correctly display it as gray.

It lives!

It turns out I don't have a sweet excuse for being so late on this release, though I did have a number of technical difficulties in the last few months. Part of the problem was a reluctance on my part to release a new version when the Spanish and Chinese translations were so incomplete. They really needed their own automation apart from my scripts that hit AllaKhazam because AllaKhazam is so incomplete on those two fronts.

So the good news is that I finally got around to writing those new scripts - one for Spanish which hits WoW-Lista, and one for Chinese which hits Alfred's. For Spanish and Chinese clients, I hope this means you will have nearly full availability checking from here on out. For the rest of us, it means my releases should be much less work and, consequently, that I should be able to be a bit more timely.

(Well, it can't be any worse, right?!)

I hope you enjoy the new version - if anything doesn't work, please let me know!

(BTW, I'll try to respond to some of the recent comments ASAP - right now I just wanted to get this release up here before I get lazy again..!)

Updated version?

I love this add-on and with the new patch making it out dated I was wondering if there is an updated version coming out?

Very odd! I must admit to having no idea on this one. I accept patches, though, if you find out what the problem is!

Yes there is. Open the main RR window and click on the 'Options' button at the bottom. Inside the frame that pops up, you should see a slider. Moving this slider should cause the minimap button to move around the minimap border.

move the button?

is there any way to move the reciperadar minimap button? i've tried everything i can think of and its still stuck in place on the bottom right i use all the available game UI bars for buttons and they cover up the icon where its sitting now and i can't move those, they are part of the default UI

PS. I get weird problems with the foglight on the areas of the Bone Wastes and Auchindoun in Terokkar Forrest. What it does is not display all of my discovered areas, instead they are still shaded as if I have not been to them. It's very odd and only occurs in the Bone Wastes.
i get that too alarius... any idea what causes it?

RecipeRadar also somehow turns off gathering addons like Cartographer_Fishing, Cartographer_Herbalism, Cartographer_Treasure... You enable them back from cartographer menu, but next herb, or changing zone makes them disabled again...) Great, if it is fixed...

First click on that tab (looks like a cooked chicken), then select a new profession from the professions drop down menu.

Don't worry, it took me a while to figure this out (sometimes curiosity and boredom combined are a good thing!)
