BLPLook
BLPLook is a Quick Look generator for .blp files, providing a preview of the BLP image in Finder and other applications supporting Quick Look. Quick Look is a feature of Leopard; BLPLook requires Mac OS 10.5.

Note that BLPLook only previews the images, and does not convert them to another format.

Supported encodings
BLPView supports all BLP2 encodings used by World of Warcraft; and contains partial support for BLP1 (Warcraft III).

Installing
The zip file contains a single bundle: BLPLook.qlgenerator. You need to move this file into ~/Library/QuickLook/ (where ~ is your home directory) or /Library/QuickLook/. The second location enables use of BLPLook for all users, but requires administrator access.

After moving the file, Quick Look should enable previews for BLP images. If this is not the case, you can try forcing Quick Look to rescan its generator database using qlmanage -m in Terminal, or logging out/in of your account.

There's a plugin for Paint.NET for it, but unfortunately it doesn't do thumbnails Anyway, you can get Paint.NET at www.getpaint.net, and the plugin at http://paintdotnet.forumer.com/viewt...p?f=16&t=25893

I'd rather like a thumbnail generater too, but I don't know enough about explorer plugins to make one.

The question is really whether those applications/frameworks define a sensible plug-in architecture that is well documented somewhere -- QuickLook does an awesome job of isolating image-generation code from the hooks required to integrate it the plug-in into the framework. I don't actually have a copy of Photoshop to test against, so that particular request seems unlikely.

You probably want to get a more malleable format out of a .blp on a mac; personally, I tend to spend more time looking for specific built-in graphics than editing them, hence the QL plugin. I can probably repackage the conversion code in a command line utility to simply let you get PNGs out of BLP.
Probably the easiest way to get a single BLP image converted to PNG is through http://www.wowprogramming.com/utils/blp2png -- simply upload it.

Any chance you diversify and make both a generic Preview/Quicktime codec, or even a photoshop file format plugin? Wishful thinking, I know.
