BLPView

BLPView is a thumbnail provider shell extension, allowing Windows to display thumbnails and previews of BLP images. BLPView can be installed on both 32- and 64-bit versions of Windows Vista and Windows 7.

Note that BLPView only previews BLP images -- it does not allow you to convert them to other formats or open them in other applications.

Installation instructions
The ZIP contains an executable installer that will extract the appropriate version of the BLPView shell extension, and install it in Program Files\BLPView. You should be able to view BLP thumbnails in Windows Explorer immediately after the installation completes.
You may uninstall BLPView at any time by using the Programs and Features Control Panel item.

* Added support for BLP1/JPEG images.
* Added support for palletized BLP2 images with 4-bit alpha.
* Assertion failures during decoding should no longer cause the decoder to terminate.

Works for me on that OS. Does that error occur when looking at some specific BLP files, or just any BLP files?

Correct; the interface BLPView uses on was added in Vista.
