Alignment / group question

In playing with the group positioning, when I select Group Direction: Left, it puts the new groups on the left, however it is shifting to the right. For example: G1 G2 G1 G3 G2 G1 Is there a way to have the new groups added on the left side and shift left, instead of added on the left, and shifting right? For example: .........
