Is blue your favorite color?

Anyway imo the questframe is a bit hard to read with the BLUEINYOURFACE and 'strange' font. But that could just be me.

I like the background drawing and everything tho.

I need to find out how to add an outline yes^^

edit: i cant seem to find out where the texture sfor the friendframe are saved... looked through Interface/x für 20times now oO

Are you working with the WotLK textures or the Cata?
If WotLK I would recommend you to move on to the Cata once, since Blizzard did a whole lot off things there with the images.

And I would start off with the FramesGeneral folder, since that will give you pain.

Using highly contrasted images behind a text is a design fail no matter how good it looks.
Nevertheless, the rest is looking pretty cute. I would change the contrast of the background image behind the text so the colorrange does not interfere with the text.

Really neat idea, but that's gonna cause some serious eye strain. As long as the background (behind the graphic) is solid, you should make that graphic somewhat transparent.

Don't add outlines to those fonts. An outline on fonts should only be used when the font itself is over the game world. Adding an outline to fonts on something like that (your Q-Frame for example) gives the font a fuzzy appearance, which in turn causes eye strain.

So you can now ADD 3D objects to your interface that must not be in your CACHE already. This is awesome! This means you can fill your UI with 3D animations. (Combat icon = 3D sword anyone?!) etc. Open space for ideas.

All you need is a correct DISPLAYID of the object you want to display.

Because those are prerendered files the CPU usage should be fine. Currently working on a mod to show some all the graphics ingame. That will be fun!

yea well the whole hard-to-read part with the q-log actually emerged after i changed the friendsframe grahics, because the q-frame and friendsframe kinda have inverted colors.

I started with the friendsframe and found it good readable and just inverted the images for q frame to test but as you guys stated its kinda hard to read. So i changed the contrast of the text area again.

Tell me what you think^^

Neza the problem still exists. It may look cool, but that's it. Hight contrasted backgrounds are bad. But that is my opinion.

I like it. Though I'm not a fan of that much blue it is readable and works well with your blue UI.

As awesome as that seems (and it is awesome, I seriously thought the wisps were part of the game world), I don't think it's such a good idea to put a lot of 3D stuff in your UI. It can get distracting and/or confusing ("Is this part of my UI or the actual game world?!"). I honestly can't see any practical application besides fun stuff like dancing bananas across the bottom of your screen.

I always just assumed that was the point we were going to arrive at in UI design.

The lightning you see here is a fog animation that is in constant movement. Only a video can tell you how cool this actually looks.

There are tons of other animations (clouds, geysirs, portals, fire, alarm lamps and so on!)

As awesome as that looks, I don't think that you can get it to serve a purpose better than just a regular texture. Animations in a UI are really too distracting to be widely used, unless they're supposed to draw your attention to something (procs, calendar invite, ...).

Not to mention the impact it has on CPU/fps. My fps is reduced from 44->25 with AmbientAura running.
