There's no cure for stupid.

So I fear I will be afflicted forever. When I was evaluating nUI I came across a post telling me how to get my macros over from the old set up and into the nUI one.

Except that after installing, I can't find the instructions.

And since I'm begging for help, is there a way to share across accounts? I have two, and I'd love someway to share macros, gather data, etc between the two accounts. Kind of a "master account folder" .

That might just be blue sky, but I really need the macros. I can't set my buttons without them, and I can't even figure out where they are hiding.

Thanks.

Macros are server side now so as long as the macros are in the main macro block they are useable on all characters of the account.

I tend to only use the 'xxxx only macros' for spells that are class specific to save space.

As to sharing them across accounts. If you still have them in file form on the old setup it would be in the WTF ( I believe ) cache-macros.lua ( or similar ). But, if you did a fresh install and removed the old folder then you more than likely have lost it.

For saving them locally; /console synchronizeMacros 0

You should be able to find them in your WTF folder and in each character folder if you have character specific ones. Just copy/paste between accounts.

Right now if you want to disable the setting synchronization, you can do this on each computer where you want only local settings:
/console synchronizeSettings 0

In 3.0.3 you will be able to manage macros vs key bindings separately:
/console synchronizeConfig 0
-- turns off synchronization of UI settings
/console synchronizeBindings 0
-- turns off synchronization of key bindings
/console synchronizeMacros 0
-- turns off synchronization of macros

Whenever settings are downloaded from the server, the old settings are saved in <file>.old, so you can quickly log out, move them back into place and they'll be uploaded to the server (unless synchronizeSettings is 0).

cool, thanks.

So far so good.
Not a problem with the macros (well mostly, but I think that's my fault)

I am challenged by the font size (your monitor must be huge to read some of that.) But I'm in negotiations with my checkbook to see if I can't possibly step up to a larger one myself. (So far, the checkbook seems to think that paying the lights and the cable are more important, but I haven't given up!)

Of everything, I think the biggest challenge has been in figuring out what mods I can dump. If you recall (from posts elsewhere) I came to wowi running 136 mods. Post WM, I pared it down to 68 via minion, and 12 via curse.
Clearly, many more of those can go too, it's been fun discovering which.
