Version: 5.7.138
by: Mikord, Resike

Announcements:

  • Version 5.7.134 is updated to work with Warlord of Draenor Patch 6.0.2 and fixes the font preview issues.
  • If you are having issues with the fonts "resetting" on initial game load, update to Version 5.7.137.
  • Version 5.7.138 corrects issues with several triggers like Kill Shot and Hammer of Wrath.

Description:

MSBT is designed to be an extremely lightweight, efficient, and highly configurable mod that makes it easier to see combat information by scrolling the information on the screen in separate, dynamically creatable scroll areas. It is a replacement for Blizzard's Floating Combat Text and Damage output.

Features:
  • Lightweight and efficient design.
  • Scroll incoming damage/heals, outgoing damage/heals, and notifications in separate configurable scroll areas on the playing field.
  • Display player and pet cooldown completion alerts.
  • Display loot alerts with a total of how many are now in inventory.
  • Add triggers that will allow you to show notifications based on a variety of conditions.
  • Assign a sound file to play for events/triggers.
  • Dynamically create new scroll areas and assign any event/trigger to them.
  • Customize the position, size, animation style, enabled state, font style, font size, font outline, and opacity for each of the scroll areas.
  • Customize each individual event's color, font style, font size, font outline, opacity, output message, enabled state, and scroll area.
  • Set "Master Font" settings that will be inherited by all of the scroll areas and the events in them unless they are overridden at the scroll area or event level.
  • Merge AoE data into one event with cumulative damage/healing done with number of normal and crits specified.
  • Show overhealing amounts against yourself or party/raid members.
  • Color unit names according to their class (including CUSTOM_CLASS_COLORS support).
  • Color damage amounts according to damage type.
  • Show partial effects (resists, absorbs, vulnerabilities, etc) colored according to type.
  • Filter output information with a full suite of spam controls.
  • Load on demand options.
  • For mod developers:
    • Output your own scrolling messages with the MikSBT.DisplayMessage function instead of having to create your own frame and animation code. You can also use your own font by first registering it with MSBT via the MikSBT.RegisterFont function.
    • Create custom animation styles.
    • See the included API.html file for reference information.

Ty Mik, that's closer to what I was looking for, and I'm thinking it's likely as close as I'm going to get, given how the combat log works. Now, for example, I'm seeing incoming melee dmg displayed as red(hit amount)blue(block amount), and when a full unmitigated hit comes through, it's just the red portion obviously. My original hope was to have it display all blocks(partial) in one solid color, and all unmitigated hits in a contrasting solid color, if that makes sense. But I think even the way I have it set now will work nicely, once I'm used to it.

Ty again for the help, and the super quick response time. and in general, I'm loving your addon.

I've not seen any issues with taking seconds as you describe. All events are batched within small windows (.3 seconds) in order to allow for event merging. That is maximum amount of time you should see between when an event happens and you see the output.

Aside from the above, if you're talking about HoTs or DoTs, there are configurable throttling thresholds that can be specified in the options which do allow for longer periods between showing HoT and DoT events, but that wouldn't affect shadow bolts.

New to MSBT, liking it so far, very configurable. Just one question, which I havn't been able to solve myself, or find anyone with an answer.

I'm using msbt on my tank, who is just shy of unhittable currently. What I'd really like to see, is two different colors/fonts for showing incoming unmitigated hits, and incoming blocked hits. By default, hits should be red, and blocks should be blue, according to the options, however, all hits and blocks are currently showing up as red. They do show the amount blocked, but I'm really looking for a better way to differentiate the two. Can I do this with msbt?

Thanks in advance for any help/insight you can provide.
also, sorry if this is a repeat question, I browse through about 10pages of comments, and didn't see anything along these lines.

For some reason my MSBT lags. If I cast e.g. a shadow bolt, MSBT displays it with a 2-4 seconds delay. Any ideas what might cause this? The game itself or the combat log doesn't lag.

Instead the actual effect of the spell is reported (damage, miss, buff/debuff, etc).
Ok thanks. I thought that might be the problem. It's not a big deal though since if the spell has a cast time it's pretty hard to miss if it goes off. I was just looking for some kind of consistency. The instant spells are the important ones anyway since I spam them when I'm tanking and want to make sure they go off before I hit the next spell.

Thanks again.

Cast Success Problem

Hey Mikord, awesome mod. I was just trying to make a new scroll area that showed the name and icon for any spell I successfully cast. I created a new scroll area, then created a trigger for that area. The output is %s and the main event is Cast Success: Source Unit Affiliation - is equal to- you. I didn't add any other conditions or exceptions. It works just fine for instant cast spells, but any spell that has a cast time doesn't show up for some reason. Is there something else I need to do to get this to work with spells that have cast times?

Thanks.

This was fixed in a second update about an hour after the initial release of 5.6.107. Update to version 5.6.108 to remove that.

With this most recent update many right-click actions generate a line of text to the chat window:

"Still tracking..."

It happens when I'm right-click vendoring things, or when I'm adding attachments to mail, or even when I'm right-clicking things to put them into my bank.

If I disable MSBT I stop getting spammed with that message.

What in the world is that about?

EDIT
Thanks! That worked like a charm. I must have simply missed the ninja-update! *shakes fist* I'm glad it's fixed though because boooooy was it annoying.

First, see the FAQ entry for creating a new trigger: http://mikord.wowinterface.com/porta...=faq&faqid=143

The pertinent settings should be:

Aura Removal
Recipient Unit Affiliation - Is Equal To - You
Skill Name - Is Equal To - Vampiric Touch

Are the interrupts showing up in the combat log? If they aren't, MSBT won't detect them and hence won't show them.

interupts + dispells on warrior

Anyone else not seeing interrupts (Pummel) or dispells (Shield Slam) on warrior atm? Not tested it on other chars to check if it's working on them, but its driving me nuts

Edit: after resetting it Dispells are showing, but still no interrupts.

Philsco:

I just tested it on my system and it's all showing up properly. I have read some comments that there may be a new bug in the game with creation of particular types of frames while in combat, but I don't know the specifics, so it may or may not be what you're seeing.

I'd suggest doing a /reload while not in combat and then immediately type /msbt to bring up the options and see if everything is showing correctly then.
