FuBar - TrainerFu  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: r24394
by: Nickenyfiken [More]

== Features ==
*Keep track of skills you can learn from trainers (class, professions, demon).
*Skill information is available anywhere after you have visit a trainer.
*Create map notes automatically with trainer if you have Cartographer installed (I can probably add support for other map note add-ons easily by request).
*Coloured skills:
**Green if trainable.
**Yellow if trainable next equal level, i.e. 6, 20 or 56.
**Red skills aren’t learnable yet.
*Shows training cost and total cost for all trainable skills.
*Delete a trainer or all trainers of a type shift-ctrl-click on it.
*Adds trainers position on the map if you have Cartographer installed. (Thanks Mikma for the icons)

Note: This mod works without FuBar. If running without FuBar it shows a icon on the minimp instead.

== Important ==
For the demon skills to work properly you have to have all of your different demons (i.e. Imp, Succubus) out at least once after you have installed version 0.4 and before you visit the demon trainer. If you don't demon spells that you already know or can't train yet might be shown as trainable. There might also be a glitch when you reach levels where you can obtain new demons, TrainerFu will probably tell you that you can learn spells for a demon you don't have yet.

Changelog:
r24394:
- Alot of small changes that i don't know remember :-P

r19542:
- Tooltip can now show required level or profession needed to learn a skill.
- Tooltip is now more customizable. Showing trainers, cost, required level is toggable
- Removed annoying message. (sorry forgot a debug msg)
- Fixed a problem where skills wasn't shown in order, i.e. sorted by level required

0.5 (r19307):
- Updated for WoW 2.0
- Cartographer Mapnotes for trainers now have different fancy icons depending on type of trainer. (thanks Mikmna for the icons)
- Small fixes here and there

0.4 (r18172):
- Added demon trainer support. Make sure you read description above!
- Changed skill info frame to be on top of the skills tooltip
- Hopefully fixed all known bugs but i can't promise

0.3 (r17864):
- Changed how trainers are shown, i.e. if you visit many Mage trainers or Leather working trainers all the skills you can learn is only shown once, but with a list of trainer names and coordinates. (See screen shot)
- Added support for localization (enUS)
- Changed a lot of code and hopefully squashed all bugs but probably added some new :-P
- Data storage changed a bit but upgrade from previous version should work

0.2:
-WARNING: Sorry this version will wipe all saved skills and trainers. I changed the way skills are saved. You have to revisit your trainers 
- Added map notes (requires Cartographer)
- Replaced the chat spam with a frame that pop ups with skill-information when you click a skill in the list.
- Fixed a lot of stupid things. :-P

0.1:
- Initial version

Demon issue

Great mod! I have been using this for some time and I really appreciate all the work you've put into it.

My issue: after updating to 0.4, I summoned each one of my demons (before visiting any trainers). Sortly afterward, I popped 36, so I visited the trainer and all of the lvl 36 skills showed up. I bought and learned each skill, but the skills did not clear from the tool tip. I relogged and resummoned each pet, but they still show. (Lvl 38 skills do show as expected)

Welp you updated AceOO to some new version, and it is causing problems with some other Ace2 addons I am running. I am getting an error upon login saying that OnInstanceUpdate cannot be called more than once or something like that. I'm beginning to find it extremely annoying - previously this problem occured with AceLocale-2.0, and I had to wait till most authors of the various addons made their addons compatible with some version of AceLocale before I could switch.

I guess I can't use TrainerFu - at least not for now. Such a pity - I loved it.

As well, I know FuBar tooltip transparency is adjusted via FuBar, but how about those separate pop-up frames?

The pop-up info frames are currently showing up behind the TrainerFu FuBar tooltip. Currently have to close the TrainerFu tooltip, check out the information, then reopen it, which is pretty inconvenient.

If the transparency of those pop-up frames can't be adjusted separately from the FuBar tooltip, though, it will likely be an issue (unable to read the text if the frame is on top of the tooltip due to word overlap).
The least i could do is to make the frame have the same transparency as the FuBar tooltip and make the info frame one strata level higher so it will fit on top of the FuBar tooltip. I think it should be doable pretty easy

You might want to pop the hood on Grimoire Keeper to get an idea how complicated that might be.

http://ui.worldofwar.net/ui.php?id=2542

To get an accurate list, you not only have to visit the trainer, but have out the pet you want info for.

sooooo....how long before a TBC version?

Oh weird hmm. Actually i think i have never tried to do that. I'll see what i can do to fix it.

OK i have updated now and rewrote a lot of code. I have been running around to many different trainers on many characters and i do really hope things work now.

If you encounter a error i will try and fix it ASAP, because i really do want things to work and i hate addons that do not work. :-)

I wonder about two things,
first i cant seem to find the cartographer mod you mentioned either on this site, or on ui.worldofwar.net perhaps you could tell me whereto find it?

I'm currently using a simple mod named "mapnotes" several variations are available on this site such as
http://www.wowinterface.com/download...fo.php?id=5537

would it be possible to add support for it, or do you recommend switching to cartographer?
First of all Cartographer is in development and can't be found on any mod sites like this, at least not that I'm aware of. You can find information about it here. I use it myself (obviously) and i highly recommend it, you should try it.

But still I'm going to check out mapnotes and see what i can do. It should fairly easy to add support i guess.

v0.1 was great. Limited in its display options, but very nice. It worked very well with no bugs or problems.

v0.2 does something I hope doesn't continue in future versions. Database mod updates wiping old data is A Very Bad Thing.

With trainer skills, wiping data is not quite as bad as with something like a like a herb gathering database mod that wipes data on upgrades. But its still a PITA to remember to have to run back to visit all those trainers again on all affected characters.

So if there needs to be another update causing a database wipe for efficiency, features or whatever, hope a way to import old data is added.

Another small issue: its better on the user end if you name the ZIPs to reflect what version is actually contained in them. Such as "FuBar_TrainerFu 0.2.zip" rather than "FuBar_TrainerFu.zip". So that if there is a need to revert back to earlier versions, you can. As well as the geek reason of doing diffs on the revisions .

Nice work otherwise. Look forward to seeing this on the Wowace SVN.
I'm sorry i had to wipe all data. But i don't want to write complicated code to convert old data at this early stage. I think its better if i spend my limited coding time to add features. But I'm going to try convert data in the future if i have to and it's not a huge hassle.

Sure ill add version numbers to the zips in the future.

Yeah the first thing i did when i felt my mod was of release quality was to get a WowAce SVN account. The problem is I'm having issues using the WoWAce SVN because my ISP sucks. They recently made changes and i can't even browse the SVN right now. That's why its not there yet.
