Dominos  Updated less than 3 days ago!  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 11.0.0
by: Tuller [More]

Dominos is an action bar addon intended to do the following:

  • Reuse as much standard blizzard action button code as possible.
  • Contain a relatively minimal feature set
  • Be easy to use
  • Be stable

It includes the following features:
  • 10 action bars, pet, class, menu, and bag bars. Each one has customizable settings for padding, spacing, columns, scale, and opacity.
  • A movable experience/reputation bar.
  • Customizable paging. You can switch pages on: action bar pages, modifier keys, forms, and targeting.
  • Customizable show states. You can tell your bar under which macro options to show, and at what opacity.
  • Fading bars. You can set your bars to fade out to a certain opacity when not moused over.
  • The ability to customize showing empty buttons or not
  • Masque support
  • LibKeyBound support
  • Sticky frames (FlyPaper)
  • The ability to move buttons in combat
  • A movable casting bar (optional)
  • Configurable right click targeting
  • Configurable self cast key settings
  • Configurable Possess/Override/Vehicle Bar support

...and will probably not end up with the following:
  • A stats bar
  • A minimap bar
  • True variable length bars

Here's how you use it:
  • To see the current list of slash commands, type /dom ? or /dominos ?
  • To open up the options menu, either go into interface options, or type /dom
  • To move bars around, either go into the options menu and press the "Enter Config Mode" button, or type /dom lock
  • To bind keys, enter binding mode via /kb or /keybound, or press the "Enter Binding Mode" button in the options menu.
  • Hold down alt while moving a bar to disable sticky bars

...and this is why I wrote it:
  • I have significantly less time to code now than I did previously. Dominos is intended to be easier to maintain.
  • I wanted to see how much I could do while maintaining compatibility with the standard action button code.
  • I'm not entirely happy with the direction I took with Bongos3. I added features that I do not see myself using personally, and thus feel that those features will be neglected and bug ridden.

You can use the following to add extra functionality:
  • tullaRange - Colors action buttons red when out of range
  • OmniCC - Adds cooldown count text
  • Masque - Allows you to change the look of buttons
  • AdiButtonAuras - Adds buff and debuff highlighting + duration text

While I hope to see a new version of Dominos, I've disabled it for now.
edit: the Beta branch was updated!

Is there any immediate way to find out what the now unuseable bars held? You can enable Action Bar 6 to 8 in the Options, but not the presumably Dominos-exclusive bars 9 and 10.
In my foolishness, I forgot to take screenshots.

I've scoured the SavedVariables (and the character-specific files such as layout-local.txt), but other than the general data of the bars themselves (position, paging) I couldn't find anything on what the buttons in these bars held.
Was this stored server-side somehow?

PS: ok, so I wrote some dirty code (my specialty) to show fake, temporary action bars containing the buttons not accessible anymore, so you can move their layout to the standard bars.

Some notes:
  • the fake bars attach to the top of action bar 8, which you have to enable temporarily to display the fake bars:
Options > Gameplay > Action Bars > Action Bar 8
Chosen as it's hopefully yet unused by your new UI = still centered in a hopefully free part of the screen.
To attach to a different element, change MultiBar7Button1 near the end to another element's name, /framestack to find out.
  • the first bar (from the bottom) is actually still available, it's the second page of the main action bar, but one might want to drag spells to the main action bar, so that saves an intermediate step.
  • some of the other bars are similarly still available to Warriors, Rogues and Druids, being their stance/form bars.
  • the bars will disappear on logout or a /reload, unless you use the script again. Don't put keybinds on these bars, they will not stick around. Only use them to restore ability/item/macro arrangements to the available bars.

This is all moot when Tuller updates Dominos

Alright then, here's the script:
Code:
/run local f,o for b=1,6 do for a=1,12 do o=b*12+a+(b>1 and 48 or 0)f=CreateFrame("CheckButton","t"..b..a,UIParent,"ActionBarButtonTemplate")f:SetID(0)f:SetAttribute("action",o)f:SetPoint("BOTTOMLEFT",MultiBar7Button1,"TOPLEFT",(a-1)*47,(b-1)*45)end end
edit: somehow missed the lots of Lua errors that creating frames without a name was throwing, especially when changing keybinds, added a barebone frame name

dominos paging

Biggest issue for me with new interface is lack of paging without writing my own macros to switch bars. I sincerely hope you bring forth a compatible version that includes that feature and reinstalls the missing actionbars.

To be determined. The new UI implements a good chunk of what Dominos implements. In its current state, you lose out on:
* 10 movable bars (you get 5)
* Movable menu and bag bars (redesigned, live in bottom right corner. Also, they implemented a good chunk of Bagnon)
* Custom paging settings
* Custom visibility (opacity, fading) settings. You get hide in/out of combat, though.
* Sticky frames when moving stuff around
* Right click targeting settings.

So, I want to approach this expansion with the question, "Can I just implement the features from Dominos that aren't already in the new UI?". This is keeping with the overall philosophy of the addon, "reuse as much of the Blizzard codebase as I can". If I am able to do so, it'll be in a new addon, and not Dominos. Dominos will then become classic only add-on for use in Wrath/TBC/Vanilla.

In the LUA files to change this?

You can add that line after line 201 'function BindableButton:UpdateHotkeys()' in the file core/bindableButton.lua.

It worked for me. I don't use macro name so for that you need to search probably in actionButtons.lua

Why don't you just change the original font ? (skurri in this case)
It's in the /fonts folder.

hmm, didnt seem to work. That just shows them all the time.

I want them hidden when out of combat, but still show if i mouseover them. And show when in combat.

Im not sure if its possible.
Tho i could just use [mod:alt] instead of the mouseover i guess.
Reduce your faded opacity slider to 0% as well.
