Items and Icons.

First of all, exucse me if this is not the correct forum area.

Is it posible to change the icon of an specific item knowing its ID.

For Example: Supposing Item ID 00351 is "Turtle Scale" and use the same icon as Item ID 000452 "Serpent Scale". And I draw an icon for "Turtke Scale". If I put it in interface\icons with an especific (this one I have no idea) name, will WoW show it.

You can make custom icon's and install them .

There are other "Icon" packs on the site just search "Icon".

And Yes they would go in Interface/ICONS/NAME
They are named like Ability_Druid_Lifebloom

I am extracting the icons now for you. From the latest Live version of wow. Chsnging them won't be a problem Finding the right one will I think. There IS A TON OF THEM!

to extract the icons.

I think I did not explained myself correctly.

For example inv_misc_monsterscales_02, is used for 31 items greys and whites. Imagine I want to change the icons for white objects, creating one for each of them. A red tainted version for "Red Whelp Scale
" a whited for "Buzzard Wing" a greenish for "Crocolisk Skin", ... etc.
I know too the ID for each white item.

¿Is it possible to assign an icon for an exact Item ID?

This is what I do not know. And I am a soo dumb I have not found a Yes o No.

No. Replacing an icon in the way that Nobgul described will replace that icon for anything that uses that file path.


I'm sure that there is some way to replace them in-game via hooking their display in bags, on action bars, loot windows, etc. So that every time they are shown it is changed to be a different texture. But it may be a PITA (though I haven't really looked into it much).

No I manually extracted them the old way. There are some missing about 30 or so, but nothing to interesting.

And I understand what you are trying to do now with the Textures, as Seerah said I am sure you could hook a script to change the look of a certain Icon, but I wouldn't even know where to begin.
