Perl Classic Unit Frames  Updated this week!  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 10.07
by: Global [More]

If you like this mod, please vote for it!

What is Perl Classic?
Perl Classic Unit Frames are a complete rewrite of the original mods by Perl. They replace the default Player, Pet, Target, Target of Target, Party, and Party Pet frames and add dedicated frames for many other units (Focus, Focus Target, Party Target, Target of Target of Target). It has been a high priority to maintain the look and feel or the original Perl mods while expanding functionality. The mod has been recoded for performance and is built around the Blizzard UI usage of events.

Q&A
-----

Q: I'm seeing double party buffs for some reason, what gives?
A: 99% of the time this is caused by CT_PartyBuffs. Simply remove the mod and you will return to having one set of party buffs.

Q: I am having massive dead spots for clicking on some of the unit frames, what's wrong?
A: This can be caused by a number of mods, but the most common seems to be CT_MovableParty. Please remove this mod as Perl can be moved without the use of this mod.

Q: The default party frames are showing up with red lightning bolts. What's going on?
A: As of version 1.503 of CT_RaidAssist this should no longer be caused by CTRA. The settings for this are now located in the WoW settings under Interface Options -> Basic -> Raid -> Hide Party Interface.

Q: Do you support ArcaneBar?
A: Yes, it is included in your download of Perl Classic.

Q: Will you be adding any features to Perl_PlayerBuff?
A: No, my coding for this mod goes as far as making sure it 'works.' If anyone would like to expand upon it, feel free to do so.

Q: Where are the raid frames?
A: As of 2.0 I no longer code raid frames for Perl Classic. Luckily, X-Perl's raid frames work great alongside Perl Classic. X-Perl's raid frames (and the unit frames themselves) can be found here: http://www.curse.com/downloads/details/3416/

Q: The scaling is all messed up! What do i do?
A: I recommend setting the scale to that of the UI if you are having issues. Open the options menu via "/perl" or the Black Pearl icon on the minimap and set the scale accordingly under the "All" tab.

Q: I am having an issue not listed in this FAQ, what can I do?
A: First, update *every* mod. I do not support ancient outdated and unmaintained mods. If you have double checked that everything is up to date, post on any of the Perl Classic mod pages and I'll be glad to help you narrow down the issue or give suggestions to help find a solution.

Q: Can you add this feature?
A: I'm sure it's possible, but the primary purpose of this mod is to 'modernize' the original Perl mod so that it doesn't slow your game down.

Tagged mobs

I had a little fling with agUF for a while, forgive me. However one feature that really did prove useful especially in the mayhem of leveling in outlands with 10gazillion others (rough estimate, not entirely accurate) was the unit frame greying out the health/mana of tagged mobs on the frame.

Perhaps it might be deemed useful enough to put into perl, as it was genuinely useful rather than just 'nice'

Technically, the mod has no bugs, just missing features, which is working as intended.

As far as ArcaneBar, all known issues are resolved as of the last version (level 70 took priority over fruitless coding). Adding in new features and recoding an entire mod will always have some issues (none of which were game breaking).

As far as party pet frames, I know, they are bugged, if you /console reloadui whenever your group makeup changes, it functions as it should. It needs updating, but w/o battlegrounds up 24/7, it's very difficult to test this. Perl_Party has working pet support anyway, so there's no crazy rush to fix the bug. It will be taken care of when I can do so in a more efficient way.
I understand not being able to get other authors to update, it just seems strange to list an outdated mod which performs a functionality some desire. On the bright side I have heard that Buffalo is good for buffs and looking at the screenshots it looks like Sartrina's

Good to hear about ArcaneBar working, I really like that mod.

Currently my base UI is coming from Cosmos (which I disable more than half of) and other standalone mods I like.
I thought I should just start from scratch and try things out, I have noticed that pets are causing one of the mods I am currently using to be in the wrong location if the party makeup or leader changes so its not just something causing you problems.
On party pets though, where do I get the addon for your addon? The links above don't work which is what prompted me to post as I heal pets!

I also see in the previous comments that Arcane Bar is causing problems, the link in the Q&A section to the plugin for it to work is broken as is the one for pet frames.

From what I've seen, Blizzard isn't sending the rest event if you port to a city and do not get the loading screen. I'll report this (and a few other supposed Perl bugs) to Blizzard in hopes they get fixed.

I haven't had the time necessary to update Perl_Raid to 2.0 yet. In the meantime (for a very long while probably), I recommend using X-Perl if you want the Perl style frames, or sRaidFrames if you used the alternative style.

Try running Perl just by itself. If your computer is anything like mine, it will correctly hide the default frames. Current offenders have been Archaeologist and ArcaneBar from the Cosmos package.

@tralkar: ArcaneBar is in the process of being upgraded to support the new frames.

@Aygen: Disable Archaeologist and ArcaneBar if you use Cosmos.
