Chinchilla Minimap  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v2.13.0
by: ckknight, Ravendwyr

Chinchilla Minimap alters the Blizzard Minimap in a way to provide much nicer features and other niceties.

Appearance

Allows changing of blip size (useful since 3.1), border style, shape of the map (doesn't have to be circular, or even square, lots of options are available), size, etc.
Auto zoom
Zoom out the map automatically after 20 seconds (or so).
Compass
A more flexible north-east-south-west indicator.
Coordinates
Show your location coordinates
Expander
Make the minimap very big temporarily (good for gathering or finding a tough-to-spot enemy).
Location
Show the name of your location more flexibly.
Move buttons
Move the buttons around the minimap to wherever you want (even off the minimap entirely).
Ping
Show which team-mate pinged the minimap
Position
Position the minimap and frames around it.
Range circle
Show on the minimap where your range extends to
Show / Hide
Show or hide various frames related to the minimap
Tracking dots
Change the dots on the map to a different set of images. Very handy, especially if you suffer from colorblindness.
Wheel zoom
Mousewheel to zoom the minimap

Hello,

for one of my characters the tracking option for fishing is missing. Tracking for minerals, quests... works.
On other characters the option is there and working.

Any idea why?

Don't know if this has something to do with my problem - but this is the character i boosted from level 6 to 90.

Regards

I personally have the Garrison button set to "show on hover" and I click the button to toggle the report.
I thought I should add to this previous comment, that SexyMap is able to "hide" the Garrison minimap button, but whatever method is occurring with the addon to perform the hide, any keybinding set will still toggle the Garrison frame. I'm not sure why this continues to work with SexyMap, but not Chinchilla, unless the methods by which the minimap buttons are hidden are drastically different.

Again, I thought I would mention this in case you (the author) wanted to investigate and attempt to replicate in order to allow for Chinchilla to hide the button but block any other interaction with the button (via keybinding).

Chinchilla does not provide its own boss frames, but there should be options to hide them in the ShowHide section of the config.

That's an error with Enchantrix, not Chinchilla.

For reference, Sexy map has a "transparent" hud-map.
The Expander doesn't have a range circle yet but I can look into adding one. As for transparency, there is an option to change this in the Expander section of the config.

This is a bug in Blizzard's code. I believe SexyMap suffers the same problem.

bug range-display on big map

Hi,
when I activate Expander, the range display vanishes. But particularly there it was useful. Would you kindly fix that? edit: Also the compas would be useful in Expander. By the way, it was also cool if you could add Transparent-mode to Expander (not "opacity"), showing only symbols, like players, lumber, anything but the floor; Like opacity but keeping Symbols! For reference, Sexy map has a "transparent" hud-map.

Another thing: Without expander, it would be nice if I could make my map much larger, but without making all the addon buttons, clock, and text bigger, just the minimap, so that I can actually see something with a quick glimpse on a flatscreen, in combat.

Rotation - there is a bug, when you rotate the "form" it also rotates so you have a vivid square inside that border.
A circle-form (as an option) would totally fix that

map moves?

every time i log in/out or switch to a different character i have to move the map back into position. it doesn't move from the bottom center position but does move up just enough to cover 1/2 of the bars i have positioned above it.

if it helps or matters i'm using nui with the built in mini-map disabled.

thanks

Thanks for the quick reply. Okay, so I'm not getting a conflict with some other addon and you've just confirmed the same result.

So... here's an odd thought. What if instead of "hiding" the icon, you simply moved it off screen by -9999. Would that work? Is that possible?

Perhaps someone else can test this:

When I have the garrison button hidden on the minimap, but I have the garrison panel set to a keybinding, the keybinding will not toggle the panel. Apparently having the garrison button hidden effectively blocks or prevents the panel from being toggled via a keybinding. I would definitely chop this up to a bug, but for the moment I'm having no luck coming up with a viable work around.

Odd. I don't understand why this would be happening. :|a
I'll keep an eye on it. The entire module is due for a complete re-write soon anyway.

Yep, that was my bad. I forgot to save the Position.lua file before zipping everything up.
This is due to the quest objectives window being re-named from WatchFrame to ObjectiveTrackerFrame in Patch 6.0.
The code is there, I simply forgot to "switch it on" for this release. Sorry.

EDIT: This alpha package on WoWace is 100% WoD compatible and should fix the odd coordinates box behaviour. I'll push a new release here after Patch 6.0 goes live.
