    Hi, my name is Thaoky, and I'm an Altoholic

    Altoholic is an Ace 3 add-on written for people who dedicate most of their time to leveling alts, and who want to have as much information as possible in one place.


    IMPORTANT NOTE:

    I am back in the game since 28/12/2020.

    If you are upgrading from a version below 9.0.003, YOU MUST CLEAR YOUR SAVED VARIABLES !!

    This means cleaning the following files in \WTF\Account\<your_account>\SavedVariables : Altoholic.lua & All DataStore*.lua



    About the add-on:

    The add-on has been in development since December 2007 and was officially released in late March 2008. It provides you information about your alts (bags, mails, AH, etc...) without having to reconnect them all the time.

    About the author:

    I was born in '76 (you do the math) and I work as a Project Manager + Software Architect + Full Stack Web Dev (yup, multiple hats) in a large multinational, so my coding time is limited, and Work > Gaming.

    I live in Belgium, and obviously play on EU only.

    Assistance will be provided on a best effort basis, but in any case always be polite and respectful when asking for help, I am neither a teenager, nor a punching ball. I am a cool guy with people who are cool with me. Respect that rule and we'll be fine.

    2020/12/28: Due to Teelo's actions, I have reverted his changes and resumed development based on my latest version of the code. Some of his new features are temporarily not available anymore, some are gone forever. The main Shadowlands features will be back though, just be patient.

    IMPORTANT NOTE FOR 8.0 : As with every new expansion, many things have changed in the API, and it is REQUIRED to clear your Saved Variables for the addon.
    This means cleaning the following files in \WTF\Account\<your_account>\SavedVariables : Altoholic.lua & All DataStore*.lua

    There WILL be bugs if you use your old files without cleaning them first.
    Some fixes to work around API changes are too time consuming, so cleaning is required. A meagre price to pay once per expansion.

    Get a text editor capable of searching through several files (I suggest Notepad++ Portable). In Notepad++ press CTRL+SHIFT+F, search for your old guild name, replace with new guild name (or leave blank and just search first to see if everything works), set the filter to datastore*.lua and the directory to WoW\WTF\Account\youraccountname\SavedVariables.
    Hit the search button and check if it finds the guild name in the DataStore.lua, _Characters, _Containers, _Inventory, _Reputation. If everything looks fine bring up the search again and replace the text.

    Question Delete a Renamed Guild
    A GM kindly helped me by renaming a guild I inherited which had a mis-spelt name (what can I say, I'm pedantic like that). However, I now cannot find a way of deleting the guild from Altoholic (I found the option to delete the current guild, but the old one was not listed) and the the old bank contents keep cropping up in the item tool-tips.

    Is there a particular file I can edit, or am I going to have to do a clean install and lose all my history?

    Hello Thaoky,

    foremost, Thank you for this great and very usefull and complete addon...
    I use to have always many chars on my wow experience and ur work made my gameplay much faster and easier to find recipes, check stuff etc between my chars without having to reload (sometimes in uncomfortable situations, like during dungeons, it's not even possible to rr!)...

    I use this together with the following: EveryQuest, recipe radar, ackis recipe list, Group Calendar 4.x, Atlas Loot Enhanced for the 3.3.5 version...
    I use the Altoholic's version 4.x...
    And I play unofficial server...

    I used it on this setting for 6 months without even the smallest problem, but now for some reason it begun to be buggy... 20 days ago, 2 days after my usual update of all accounts, I relogged and I found the Summary messed up... Many names or whole accounts were gone, or mixed up, sometimes the entire list was empty, also the skill list got the same situation if not worse, jobs from many chars lose datas even if I updated them only since 1h...
    I tried deleting interface, WTF and cache folders, putting a clean and fresh installation of every addon and reloggin, but after 2h of gameplay the problem was back....

    Why this? And what else could I do to restore it?
    Thanks in advance... I rly hope to solve because I became addicted to Altoholic!

    Most of Altoholic 4.2.001 toc-files have X-Curse-* tags commented with --, which is not commenting sequence for toc-files.

    Resulting in wow log file ( \Logs\FrameXML.log ) Following kind (ignorable) errors. There is lot more, only couple first:

    One thing I have to say: Your my personal hero! This addon is the best one I've ever seen and it's the most important one for years 4 me now!

    Is there any way beside of paypal to donate your great work? I don't use paypal.

    I don't call this function (or any other in your report) at all, like in some other cases, Altoholic is reported because it comes early in the alphabet ..

    Like AnrDaemon said, try disabling altoholic, and chances are another addon will be blamed. Or try with only altoholic and nothing else, and the error won't occur.

    This is either other addon error, or Blizzard problem.
