Hi, my name is Thaoky, and I'm an Altoholic

Altoholic is an Ace 3 add-on written for people who dedicate most of their time to leveling alts, and who want to have as much information as possible in one place.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

I am back in the game since 28/12/2020.

If you are upgrading from a version below 9.0.003, YOU MUST CLEAR YOUR SAVED VARIABLES !!

This means cleaning the following files in \WTF\Account\<your_account>\SavedVariables : Altoholic.lua & All DataStore*.lua

About the add-on:

The add-on has been in development since December 2007 and was officially released in late March 2008. It provides you information about your alts (bags, mails, AH, etc...) without having to reconnect them all the time.

About the author:

I was born in '76 (you do the math) and I work as a Project Manager + Software Architect + Full Stack Web Dev (yup, multiple hats) in a large multinational, so my coding time is limited, and Work > Gaming.

I live in Belgium, and obviously play on EU only.

Assistance will be provided on a best effort basis, but in any case always be polite and respectful when asking for help, I am neither a teenager, nor a punching ball. I am a cool guy with people who are cool with me. Respect that rule and we'll be fine.

2020/12/28: Due to Teelo's actions, I have reverted his changes and resumed development based on my latest version of the code. Some of his new features are temporarily not available anymore, some are gone forever. The main Shadowlands features will be back though, just be patient.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR 8.0 : As with every new expansion, many things have changed in the API, and it is REQUIRED to clear your Saved Variables for the addon.
This means cleaning the following files in \WTF\Account\<your_account>\SavedVariables : Altoholic.lua & All DataStore*.lua

There WILL be bugs if you use your old files without cleaning them first.
Some fixes to work around API changes are too time consuming, so cleaning is required. A meagre price to pay once per expansion.

- This concludes the conversion of all DataStore modules to make them compatible with all versions.

Cease any inventory scanning when AuctionProgressFrame is visible. It generates ALOT of inventory changing events, if you react to each and every one of them, the FPS drop is just insane.

Gah, I'm sorry, I should have told you that I had DataStore_Auctions disabled. I didn't even think about that being a problem, I just don't have any use for that as I don't really use the Auction House.

A failed assertion at that specific line tells me with absolute certainty that this is the problem. While the addon's modularity has increased over time, we are not yet at a point where Altoholic likes disabling DataStore modules.

I will turn it back on, thanks for the updates, responses and continued support of this invaluable addon, and please, dont EVER let Blizzfail buy your addon rights, all they'll end up doing is breaking it, like they break everything else.

This will keep evolving over time, but at this point, I strongly suggest keeping them active.

I will make the necessary modifications to avoid this error though.

To make things clearer, in the addon list:

Altoholic : MUST be enabled
Altoholic_* : can all be disabled, the related tab will simply be empty.

DataStore : MUST be enabled
DataStore_Characters : MUST be enabled

All other DataStore_* : can be disabled, but should be enabled because I haven't finalized all the necessary changes that support the modular approach. If you really want to disable a specific module, just test the addon's reaction, and reverse your change if things don't work.

2) Also, I suspect that if nothing shows, there was most likely a Lua error at logon. Can you make sure to check that in the game's option panel -> help -> "display Lua errors" is well enabled. If not, check it, and login again to trigger the error, it will most definitely be useful if there is one.

- In the characters tab, the 8 icons on top should display a mouse over menu telling what they actually do, if you don't see that menu, then we have to find the cause, but I would never add an icon without at least a little hint of what it's there for.
- The Female Dwarf in Christmas garb, well, that's supposed to be an easter egg .. some icons change based on certain conditions
- [EDIT] The calendar issue has just been fixed on my side.

Let's hope we can make progress on this.

@AnrDaemon: I'm working on the herbalism thing, I'm close to a solution.
