Bongos2  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 1.10.1
by: Tuller [More]

I have written a new action bar addon, called Dominos, and am no longer supporting this one. Please feel free to try it out, along with Trinity Bars, and Bartender 3

Bongos is an action bar replacement designed to be both low memory, and easy to setup. It is not as feature rich as other bar mods, but should include the features most commonly used.

Version History
A Brief Guide

Included Addons

  • Bongos2: The core addon.
  • Bongos2 ActionBar: Breaks up the main action bar into movable parts
  • Bongos2 Stats: A display for latency, framerate, and memory usage
  • Bongos2 RollBar: Makes the frame for rolling on items movable
  • Bongos2 CastBar: A movable casting bar, with the ability to show cast time
  • Bongos2 XP: A movable experience bar
  • Bongos2 MapBar: A movable mapbar
  • Bongos2 Options: A dynamically loaded options menu for Bongos

Features
  • Every Bongos bar can be moved, hidden, and have its scale and opacity altered
  • Sticky bars - Each bar can be anchored to any other bar
  • 120 action buttons, which can be setup in any number of bars
  • Both macro and key binding text on action buttons can be hidden
  • Customizable stance transitions for each bar

General Settings
  • To bring up the options menu: type /bongos menu
  • To unlock bars: uncheck the lock bars option in the main options menu
  • To hide or show a bar: unlock bars, then middle click or shift right click it
  • To move a bar: unlock bars, and then click and drag it with the left mouse button
  • To bring up a bar's configuration menu, right click it

Key Bindings
  • Bindings for the Bongos action bar should only be done via the bindings menu in Bongos
  • To bind keys, open the main options panel, and select the bindings option. Hover over a button, then press a key to bind it to that button

Action Bar Settings
  • Accessing general action bar options: open up the main options window (/bongos menu) and select the action bars panel
  • Adjusting the layout of a given bar: unlock bars and right click the bar you want to adjust to bring up its configuration menu
  • Moving buttons: Hold down the key for moving buttons (shift by default), and drag a button. Alternatively, unlock button positions by shift right clicking the mini map button, or unchecking the option in the main options menu
  • Making a bar bigger: You can increase the maximum size of a given bar by reducing the number of action bars. To do so, adjust the action bars slider on the action bar panel of the main options menu. This option will reset the settings of your action bars

Stances and Paging
  • Stances and paging are configured via a bar's right click menu. With bars unlocked, right click the bar you want to change,

Slash Commands
  • All commands start with either /bongos, /bob, or /bgs
  • <barList> can have a possible value of an actionbar number, menu, bags, pet. class, or all
  • You can also specify a group or range of bars, the command /bo scale 1-3 class 1.2 will scale action bars 1 2 3, and the class bar to 120% of their normal size.
  • /bongos - Shows the options menu, if present
  • /bongos lock - Toggles locking bars positions
  • /bongos show <barList> - Shows <barList>
  • /bongos hide <barList> - Hides <barList>
  • /bongos toggle <barList> - Toggles <barList>
  • /bongos scale <barList> <scale> - Sets the scale of <barList> to <scale>
  • /bongos setalpha <barList> <opacity> - Sets the opacity of <barList> to <opacity>
  • /bongos set <profile> - Sets the current character to use <profile>
  • /bongos copy <profile> - Copies all settings from <profile>
  • /bongos delete <profile> - Deletes <profile>
  • /bongos reset - Loads default settings

I switched to Bongos from WoW UI and in the regular stock UI when i went into stealth mode the action bar would do an automatic switch to another bar with all my stealth abilities. How do i set up Bongos to do the same thing so i am not having to hit a hot key to switch actionbars?

Just updated to the most recent version - with the old one, the minimap button appeared on my Fubar; in this version, there doesn't seem to be a way to make that happen.

Am I missing something?

Love the mod, and have been using for a long time with no issues, until recently. I play a warrior, with the most recent version of Bongos2. I set my stance bar to 100 % autofade, however for some reason they do not appear when i hover over them. The tooltips are showing and the general area of the button is clickable, but the Buttons themselves are invisible. I used the autofade feature on many other buttons with no issues whatsoever, but the stance bar keeps dissapearing. I checked all the obvious stuff and as far as I can tell I didn't screw anything up. Thanks, other than that Bongos2 rocks =D

[BUG] Minimap

Using Bongos2 1.7.5 on WoW 2.1.3, and only having the modules Bongos2 and Bongos2_MapBar enabled, I notice a problem with the automatic placement of frames. You open your mail box, and then open your character screen. The character screen will open on top of your mail list, while it should open to the right. It seems all other dialogs that choose an alternative position on the right to enable the use of at least two dialogs at the same time are affected as well. I am running at 1600x1200 full screen resolution.

This behaviour is only active when you have moved your minimap to the left or bottom part of the screen, and it is triggered by the minimap position on load, be it on startup or as part of a profile change.

I have a suspicion that since mapbar does not do anything related to other frames, your code acutally triggers a bug in the Blizzard code, so Slouken and co might need to have a look at it.

I hope you will be able to find out what is causing this behaviour.

A small prettiness request -- any chance to put in a default spacing slider in the general tab, like where the default scale slider is, and then have that spacing affect the vertical distance between bars when sticky bars is enabled?

I like putting a bit of space between the buttons, but it looks a little goofy when they are still smushed together vertically, and it would be nice to have the convenience of sticky bars and still get the spacing.

Obviously not a high priority, must-have type thing, but I thought I would toss it up on here just in case. Thanks for all the time you put into the mods

after playing around a lot, I believe that the problem with icons in the action bar is related to having the action bar icons locked so you need to hold a key to move them. While I have the icons locked down, they have difficulty updating as I move in and out of range. Once I unlock the icons so that they can be moved freely the range updating problem disappears.

@Diezul

Not sure if Bongos will add its own cooldown text on the icons support but i hear good things about OmniCC there's screenshots of it running on Bongos too.

Is there a way to get a text countdown re-use timer on buttons? So i can get a visual # as well as the grey-out affect?

Love the AddOn! Thanks!
That functionality does not automatically happen in Bongos2. You can switch to a profile after you first load, though.

My only comment on either would be to hope that Sage implements some Text placement options in a future version.
Its one of those things for me to think about in the long term.

Thanks for the quick response Tuller. I updated to both Bongos2 and Sage last night and was very happy with both.

Updating to Bongos2 was a lot faster to configure than the old version (esp. Druid forms, very nice). I think I spent a whole 60 seconds and it was perfect. I did see a decent drop in cpu usage as well. (nice touch with bongos2_stats mouseover also)

My only comment on either would be to hope that Sage implements some Text placement options in a future version.

The setup of it is beautiful and very quick, just about everything is perfect, but I wish there were options to put the name text on *top* of the texture, and move the other text positions (elite, human, etc) around or remove them if needed. (An option to disable tooltips in combat would be nice also, but perhaps this is best left to tooltip addons, dunno).

Thanks again for your good work Tuller. Your one of the best addon coders around. :^)

-edit- And sorry for the odd commentation on Sage in this section. Just here since I mentioned both.

Any chance of fixing this? I have the latest, but this bug, which you've confirmed, hasn't been fixed yet.

You should see a decrease. Bongos2 implements some optimizations to the paging and stance switching code which were not possible before 2.1 (this should be noticeable of you switch bars), and the 1.7.x versions implement some optimizations for range checking (this probably won't be noticeable).

In the early days of bongos you could choose which self cast key you wanted to use, why can't you do that anymore?
There should be a drop down for it on the actionbar part of the options window (/bongos)

This seems like a simple question, but I can't seem to find it stated anywhere. I have been using Bongos (1, the old one) since the week that it was patched up for TBC (about a week or two after release I think). It does everything I want. I've just been trying to optimize my addons this week to get above my crappy 10fps while fighting Lady Vashj.

Would I expect to see an increase or decrease in CPU usage by updating to Bongos2?

- Again, I dont need any of the new features, simply thinking performance wise.

p.s. I am anxiously awaiting ditching my slimmed and trimmed, yet still overbloated Pitbull tonight and configuring Sage to take it's place. I use nearly all of your addons, yet never realized till lately. Your a great coder, thank you for your good work.

I disabled all the addons I have except:
bongos2
bongos2 actionbar
bongos2 options

Autofade opacity set to 0%
Opacity set to 100%

Initially it will work, but upon reloadui or relog, the buttons are permanently invisible, but still clickable, with the tooltip showing what invisible button I'm hovering over.

Sorry it took a while to respond again, I had no power for 3 days due to storms ><
