Bongos2  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 1.10.1
by: Tuller [More]

I have written a new action bar addon, called Dominos, and am no longer supporting this one. Please feel free to try it out, along with Trinity Bars, and Bartender 3

Bongos is an action bar replacement designed to be both low memory, and easy to setup. It is not as feature rich as other bar mods, but should include the features most commonly used.

Version History
A Brief Guide

Included Addons

  • Bongos2: The core addon.
  • Bongos2 ActionBar: Breaks up the main action bar into movable parts
  • Bongos2 Stats: A display for latency, framerate, and memory usage
  • Bongos2 RollBar: Makes the frame for rolling on items movable
  • Bongos2 CastBar: A movable casting bar, with the ability to show cast time
  • Bongos2 XP: A movable experience bar
  • Bongos2 MapBar: A movable mapbar
  • Bongos2 Options: A dynamically loaded options menu for Bongos

Features
  • Every Bongos bar can be moved, hidden, and have its scale and opacity altered
  • Sticky bars - Each bar can be anchored to any other bar
  • 120 action buttons, which can be setup in any number of bars
  • Both macro and key binding text on action buttons can be hidden
  • Customizable stance transitions for each bar

General Settings
  • To bring up the options menu: type /bongos menu
  • To unlock bars: uncheck the lock bars option in the main options menu
  • To hide or show a bar: unlock bars, then middle click or shift right click it
  • To move a bar: unlock bars, and then click and drag it with the left mouse button
  • To bring up a bar's configuration menu, right click it

Key Bindings
  • Bindings for the Bongos action bar should only be done via the bindings menu in Bongos
  • To bind keys, open the main options panel, and select the bindings option. Hover over a button, then press a key to bind it to that button

Action Bar Settings
  • Accessing general action bar options: open up the main options window (/bongos menu) and select the action bars panel
  • Adjusting the layout of a given bar: unlock bars and right click the bar you want to adjust to bring up its configuration menu
  • Moving buttons: Hold down the key for moving buttons (shift by default), and drag a button. Alternatively, unlock button positions by shift right clicking the mini map button, or unchecking the option in the main options menu
  • Making a bar bigger: You can increase the maximum size of a given bar by reducing the number of action bars. To do so, adjust the action bars slider on the action bar panel of the main options menu. This option will reset the settings of your action bars

Stances and Paging
  • Stances and paging are configured via a bar's right click menu. With bars unlocked, right click the bar you want to change,

Slash Commands
  • All commands start with either /bongos, /bob, or /bgs
  • <barList> can have a possible value of an actionbar number, menu, bags, pet. class, or all
  • You can also specify a group or range of bars, the command /bo scale 1-3 class 1.2 will scale action bars 1 2 3, and the class bar to 120% of their normal size.
  • /bongos - Shows the options menu, if present
  • /bongos lock - Toggles locking bars positions
  • /bongos show <barList> - Shows <barList>
  • /bongos hide <barList> - Hides <barList>
  • /bongos toggle <barList> - Toggles <barList>
  • /bongos scale <barList> <scale> - Sets the scale of <barList> to <scale>
  • /bongos setalpha <barList> <opacity> - Sets the opacity of <barList> to <opacity>
  • /bongos set <profile> - Sets the current character to use <profile>
  • /bongos copy <profile> - Copies all settings from <profile>
  • /bongos delete <profile> - Deletes <profile>
  • /bongos reset - Loads default settings
  • /bongos version - Displays what version of bongos you're running
  • /keybound - Toggles keybinding mode

A quick and dirty:

On the Stance page, you most likely are going to only change 1 bar (your main hotbar) so leave the "1 - 1" alone. That's for the pages you are going to change; 1 - 2 would change both bar 1 and bar 2. On the next field, place how many pages to count to replace the bar, i.e.; if you're going to swap bar 10 in for bar 1 (this is how I do it on a default bar count setup) put 9 in the field (1 + 9 = 10). Under visibility, uncheck bar 10 to keep it hidden.

Rinse and repeat for each druid form. The same applies to warrior stances.

You'll need to create 4 stances if you have 4 forms (Caster, Bear, Cat, Aquatic), for instance. The one for caster should be a 0, so it places bar 1 in that position. This is from memory, you understand. I've not set up my warrior in awhile.

I've found that with characters with multiple stances, I'm just not left with enough bars to do everything, and the swapped out bars are "wasting" empty buttons. My solution is to figure out how many buttons max I need to swap out on my main bar, then calculate out how many bars I can make of that length max. For instance, on my rogues, I set it for 17 bars (I lose 1 button total). This allows me plenty of bars to swap out for the main bar as well as a lot of free buttons and bars to lay around the screen for 1, 2, or only 3 buttons, as can be seen in my ss on a previous post.

I hope that helps.
Thanks Bladewraith - that helps. I didn't get a chance to play around wih it last night, but your overview clears some things up for me I think. So when Bongos says you can have up to 120 action bars, it really means there are 120 buttons available that can be used to create action bars, correct?

Also, your explanation on the bars to replace and pages to look ahead makes sense. So the first setting is the range of bars I want to replace when changing to the stance, and the page setting is merely an amount that is added to each "current" bar to find the replacement bar. Is that correct? So if I wanted to replace bars 2-4 with bars 5-7 then my first setting would be 2-4 and the page setting would be 3. I think that sounds right.

That leaves me with the question of what if I want to replace 2 or 3 bars in caster form with one bar in bear form?

Thanks for all your help. I'm looking forward to trying this all out over the weekend.

is it possible to force a page change depending on the current target's status (friendly / hostile) ? i'd like to have my offensive bars pop-up automatically for the latter and my
healing spells for the former.

thanks in advance.

Oh cool! lol Okay, thank you. I appreciate it and I didn't mean to sound...off or mad, or anything like that. It's just so frustrating that the otherwise (IMHO) VERY best action bar system anyone's done (and I'm a big Ace2 mods fan and prefer Bongos to Bartender3) to have that one imperfection in an also otherwise perfect system.

I can now rest confortably using Bongos until your next update.

/me is now a very happy rogue.

You lost me, I'm afraid...

I'm using the latest version from here...the one posted 12/14... Is there a different one I should be using?

Edit: Perhaps I am misstating what's happening.

I have the stance set up to swap page 6 in for page 1 when I'm in stealth. Then under Visibility, I hide bar 6 (since it has the buttons for stealthed abilities only). Once all my bars are in place, I lock it all and uncheck "Show Empty Buttons". Whenever I just simply change in and out of stealth, all hidden empty buttons stay hidden. However, if I de-stealth while in combat, or as a matter of course enter combat (ambush/cheap shot/resisted pickpocket), all my empty buttons display, as can be seen here (the circles are from cyCircled, and it happens regardless of that mod running/installed or not), until combat is over with, at which time the empty buttons hide again.

(further note: 2 weeks ago, I reinstalled windows on my machine after a complete hdd wipe and system rebuild...it's not artifact data from an older version...it can't be, as on the hdd after the llformat, it's only ever had the 12/14 version, so there's no older version saved data causing this. I'm trying to be very thorough, as everyone I've recommended bongos to has reported the same issue.)

With Stealth stance configured (and it does work properly, so those saying stances are broken are incorrect). However, when I cone out of stealth in combat, the empty buttons don't hide until I exit combat. Simply switching stances/stealth hides them correctly. This is only stance switching/destealthing in(to) combat.

Any thoughts?
Its fixed in my version.

Can you save keybindings for different profiles? When I change my keybindings and save a profile, all the profile's keybindings are changed too.
Check the "Use Character Specific Keybindings" option on the bindings panel.

Tuller,

I'd like to echo this person's issues.

I run a "clean" ui and only show buttons/features the character can use. Hidden buttons are a must for me.

Hmm, I'll have to try that out, I tried saving the settings to a profile before, and when I clicked on Load, nothing changed, but hopefully you're solution will fix it. =)

Edit: I experimented a little bit, and it seems to be somehow connected to the sticky bars feature, though I found no distinctive pattern to nail down a bug. But turning off the sticky bars right before saving the profile seem to do the trick.

My bars keep moving from the position I had them set at everytime I reload the screen, like if I go into an instance or if I log out and log in, or if I exit game and come back in, anytime the screen changes, my bars change their positions a little bit, see, here's my set up regularly: http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/3...7110305mo7.jpg

Then, after I might exit out and come back in, it's like this: http://img389.imageshack.us/img389/8...7111930db8.jpg

Anyone know how to fix this?
