Bongos2  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 1.10.1
by: Tuller [More]

I have written a new action bar addon, called Dominos, and am no longer supporting this one. Please feel free to try it out, along with Trinity Bars, and Bartender 3

Bongos is an action bar replacement designed to be both low memory, and easy to setup. It is not as feature rich as other bar mods, but should include the features most commonly used.

Version History
A Brief Guide

Included Addons

  • Bongos2: The core addon.
  • Bongos2 ActionBar: Breaks up the main action bar into movable parts
  • Bongos2 Stats: A display for latency, framerate, and memory usage
  • Bongos2 RollBar: Makes the frame for rolling on items movable
  • Bongos2 CastBar: A movable casting bar, with the ability to show cast time
  • Bongos2 XP: A movable experience bar
  • Bongos2 MapBar: A movable mapbar
  • Bongos2 Options: A dynamically loaded options menu for Bongos

Features
  • Every Bongos bar can be moved, hidden, and have its scale and opacity altered
  • Sticky bars - Each bar can be anchored to any other bar
  • 120 action buttons, which can be setup in any number of bars
  • Both macro and key binding text on action buttons can be hidden
  • Customizable stance transitions for each bar

General Settings
  • To bring up the options menu: type /bongos menu
  • To unlock bars: uncheck the lock bars option in the main options menu
  • To hide or show a bar: unlock bars, then middle click or shift right click it
  • To move a bar: unlock bars, and then click and drag it with the left mouse button
  • To bring up a bar's configuration menu, right click it

Key Bindings
  • Bindings for the Bongos action bar should only be done via the bindings menu in Bongos
  • To bind keys, open the main options panel, and select the bindings option. Hover over a button, then press a key to bind it to that button

Action Bar Settings
  • Accessing general action bar options: open up the main options window (/bongos menu) and select the action bars panel
  • Adjusting the layout of a given bar: unlock bars and right click the bar you want to adjust to bring up its configuration menu
  • Moving buttons: Hold down the key for moving buttons (shift by default), and drag a button. Alternatively, unlock button positions by shift right clicking the mini map button, or unchecking the option in the main options menu
  • Making a bar bigger: You can increase the maximum size of a given bar by reducing the number of action bars. To do so, adjust the action bars slider on the action bar panel of the main options menu. This option will reset the settings of your action bars

Stances and Paging
  • Stances and paging are configured via a bar's right click menu. With bars unlocked, right click the bar you want to change,

Slash Commands
  • All commands start with either /bongos, /bob, or /bgs
  • <barList> can have a possible value of an actionbar number, menu, bags, pet. class, or all
  • You can also specify a group or range of bars, the command /bo scale 1-3 class 1.2 will scale action bars 1 2 3, and the class bar to 120% of their normal size.
  • /bongos - Shows the options menu, if present
  • /bongos lock - Toggles locking bars positions
  • /bongos show <barList> - Shows <barList>

I would like to know if there are any options for the frame that shows CPU usage stats and addon memory usage in the tooltip other than what's there when you right-click it. Namely, I'm looking for a way to sort the addons in the tooltip by how much memory they're using, because I have so many addons installed, the list only shows like the first half or so of them, and I'd rather just see the ones that are using the most memory, or be able to scroll them up/down so I can see it all.

Thanks for the help, i was sure it was enabled, must have mischecked, so i thought it was bongos :x
Okay, this isnt much of a bugfix, more like a request that you are in your rights to turn down, but: Could you possibly make some of the bongos options avaible separately for all bars? For example, the "Show Empty Slots Icons" enabled on bar 1 2 3 4 and disabled for 5 and 6. (Or if its already in it, since ive heard bongos got scripting, point me to where i must go and ill do it :x)

Bongos only had scripting for a very short while. After that, blizzard announced the 2.0 changes and I promptly removed the options so people would not get too used to it

I don't intend to add any options to hide empty buttons on a per bar basis. What reason do you need it for?

Currently I'm using Bongos2 for my Warrior action bars; I have four bars set up with various macros for solo grinding and damage. What I would like to do is have, on keypress or macropress, two of those bars that are heavily hotkeyed, switch to two separate paged bars containing all of my tanking macros and abilities, but using the same hotkeys. When I'm ready to switch back to DPS, I press the key again, and the two pages revert to the DPS/Grind keys.

At the moment, I can change the actual pages, but I have to hold down a modifier; say Shift, to access the abilities on the hidden page. This is highly undesirable, as I use Shift for about 2/3 of my keybinds presently. A temp pageflip with a modifier doesnt help me much at all.

Any ideas about how I can set this up with Bongos? If there's a way to set the Bongos pageswap keybind, that would be the easiest solution. At the moment, it seems that Bongos has it hard-coded to operate like Blizzard's pageshifts; Alt-1, 2 etc. Again, this is not a viable solution for me, due to how I have my keybinds done. If there's a configuration option that I'm missing that will allow me to bind say, Alt-Arrow, to a specific page switch, or a /script command inherent in Bongos that I could create a macro for, these would be ideal solutions.

FE: For clarification, what I set up was stancechanges dependant on the ability I'm using; for instance I have an Overpower macro that looks to see if I'm in Battle Stance, and if not, switches me. Another keypress actually performs the ability.

Update:

Alright - so I found an interesting behavior on how Bongos uses the default Blizzard keybindings.

What I did was enter the configuration mode for my two bars - bar 1 I set to page 1 and 2, and for bar2, page 3 and 4. I set the binding for Action Page 1 to Alt-Down Arrow, and Page 2 to Alt-Up Arrow. When I press these hotkeys, both Bar1 AND Bar2 switch pages; eureka!

Now to find a better explanation of how Bongos handled paging, since there's obviously pages in Bar1 that are inaccessible to any other bar!

Tuller, It seems that in combat, my actionbar button tooltips don't show up. Could this be Bongos? They come back after combat is over.

This, and the "my profile is always set to default" issue are caused by BongosFu. I'm going to request that the author disable these two options by default.

Ok, I deleted my BongosFu (which was a waste of space anyway). We'll see how it does. Thanks Tuller.

Can you make a movable Quest-Tracker in the next Bongos' version?

Any possibility of adding these features eventually?

I have a bar that is significantly bigger, with less opacity, that sits alongside my MetaHUD so I can see my cooldowns better. My only question is - is it possible to add a modifier that makes the bar actually appear when entering combat? You have a feature that makes the bar change when selecting a friendly target, any possibility for this?

In addition, anyway to display numeric cooldowns?

I know their are other mods that can probably do this, but I'd rather not want to have to DL a bunch of mods to do something I hope Bongos can one day accomplish.

Thanks. Totally awesome mod otherwise.

i am now using bongos 1.6.3 (beta version) and im still having problems with the title above the minimap not sticking (despite being enabled) i have tried resetting wtf settings but didn't change a thing. Also, the visibility menu (where u click what bars to be enabled etc) is now gone for some reason and i can also not see the memory usage of the other mods by hovering the mouse over the preformance bar.

Since the last patch, I have been unable to turn off macro text titles from the action bar buttons. I have no idea what that is. I turn it off, and seconds later, the titles appear again.

Mapbar removing PVP objective turn-over bar

Ok so I'm using Bongos2 and I can't see the pvp objective bar in any zones (ie. Hellfire Peninsula, Zangarmarsh, etc.). When I disable mapbar, it returns. I also can't see quests when I select them in the logbook, but that seems to be caused by mapbar as well. Anyone else running into this or know of a way to fix it without disabling mapbar?

If u are moving the minimap anywere toward the bottom u will loose site of the quest watch frame and the capture timer . I am not sure if Tuller is going to implement something like simpleminimap has as far as unlocking the map and being able to relocate the pvp timer and the quest watch frame or not . U should make a suggestion to him about seeing what it would take to implement those features . Only thing i can tell ya is to try and move your minimap toward the default location and make sure no other quest mods are running that have thier own tracking minions and watch frames and see how it does .

Can Bongos2 import Bongos1 settings?

I am looking to switch to Bongos2 from the original Bongos, but setting my bars back up doesn't make me a happy camper. Will Bongos2 recognize and load Bongos profiles?
