Bongos3  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 1.3
by: Tuller [More]

I have written a new action bar addon, called Dominos, and am no longer supporting this one. Please feel free to try it out, along with Trinity Bars, and Bartender 3

Bongos3 is a main action bar replacement designed be both powerful, yet lightweight and easy to use.

Have Questions? Check out the wiki first!

Included Addons:

  • Bongos - The core addon.
  • Bongos_AB - The action bar portion of Bongos.
  • Bongos_CastBar - A casting bar replacement. Colors the bar based on if the spell being cast is helpful, harmful or neutral. Also includes a timer.
  • Bongos_RollBar - Makes the dialogs that pop up when rolling on items movable.
  • Bongos_Stats - A movable framerate, latency, and addon memory usage indicator.
  • Bongos_XP -A movable experience/reputation bar.
  • Bongos_Options - A load on demand options menu.

Features
  • Every bar can be moved, hidden, and have its scale and opacity altered
  • Sticky bars - Each bar can be anchored to any other bar
  • 120 action buttons, which can be setup in any number of bars
  • Customizable stance transitions and state visibility for each action bar
  • Buff and debuff highlighting on action buttons

* Fixed a bug causing my upgrade code not to run. If you're upgrading from 1.0 to 1.1, please make sure you've set a bar as the possess bar
* Fixed typo

1.0
* The possess bar will now default to the pet bar if no action bar has been set to act as it
* You can now only have one possess bar at a time
* Bongos now fires two Ace3 messages: BONGOS_LOCK_ENABLE and BONGOS_LOCK_DISABLE

Gamma.1
* Fixed some grammar issues

Beta.12
* Fixed a bug causing disabling sticky bars causing bars to move out of place
* Fixed bug causing bindings to clear on a new version update
* Fixed a bug causing bindings to not disable properly when removing a button or loading a profile
* Added an option to show tooltips only in combat

* Made the binding and config mode dialogs movable
* Fixed a bug for new users

Beta 10:
* Added a Page slider to each stance menu, tried to make the bar creation help more informative/noticeable.

Beta 9:
* Replaced the term Action Set with paging, and altered all of the stance sliders to say Page X instead of simply X
* Differentiated Page 1 from the default state of do nothing, called Disabled.
* Changed the format used for creating the right click menu for action bars to be table driven. Take a look at Bongos_AB/actionBarConfig.lua if you wanna edit it.

Right, Bongos_Minimap is now part of jailborc's new addon and will not be included in the main download.

I do keep a version on my SVN that I personally use, but I will not support it.

Hey Tuller... just wondering if the version on your svn is the same as the latest release from Jailborc. :P

Bongos is THE Actionbar management addon.
I'm looking foward for the final release, until that I'll stick with Bongos2

I was wondering if you included the option of the interval of range checking, because in Bongos2 sometimes I was in range of the mob, but the icon didn't change to normal color for like 0.6 seconds later - and would be awesome if the interval could be like 0.1 seconds.

Keep up the great work Tuller!
(I also liked Combuctor, but it still needs a lot of work)

So, this latest build uses some 2.4 specific functionality, see the changelog for more details. It will not work with 2.3.

Range checking should be on a 0.1 second update timer.

Exclamation Memory

I have a question about this; will Bongos3 use less memory than Bongos2? Bongos2 uses about 850kb of memory (not alot i know, but i'm slimming down my memory usages) and i'm looking for something simple that doesnt use alot of memory...
I'm asking since i still havn't gotten the hang of the more complex LUA-coding.

Keep up the good work!

Keybindings

The latest alpha doesn't seem to honor the "save per character" keybindings options.

EDIT: Nevermind, somehow, I ended with my shaman using the profile from my rogue. I just deleted the profile and started over.

Bongos2 and Bongos3 use approximately the same amount of memory. That being said, memory usage is more than likely not something that will affect your performance as much as say, CPU usage does, which the two addons should have similar (low) values for.

Changelog

Which are the differences between Beta 4 and Beta 5? They aren't in the changelog.

I was playing around with Bongos3 on my shaman this weekend and have to say it's a huge improvement over Bongos2 (hiding/showing bars in combat is amazing!).

One thing I've been wondering about is support by profiles for storing the contents of the action bars.

I respec between resto and enhancement regularly, and it's a pain to have to keep swapping spells around and moving macros to the right places (particularly on hidden action bars). Is there any way to have a profile for each spec that remembers which spells are in which slot?
