Welcome
Welcome to Tullamods. Here you'll find news about Bagnon, Bongos, Sage, and OmniCC

The future
By: Tuller - 11-18-2009 11:54 AM
Tuller's Avatar Here are my immediate future plans for my stuff. I've actually tried to fill out everything both on my roadmap and issue tracker. I've also revamped the wiki a bit. Anyway, here are my current plans for things:
  • Bagnon: My priority for Bagnon is saved searches. After that, its guild bank support I'm after.
  • Dominos: My priority is to write a new totem bar that functions more like the stock totem bar. After that, I'm probably going to explore more esoteric things: like infinite macro buttons and state based layouts.
  • OmniCC: The next update is likely going to be a rewrite. I want to try and reduce CPU usage, and also try and merge pulse and shine into the main pack.
  • Combuctor: I'm currently favoring Bagnon over Combuctor at the moment, but the bank viewing bug bugs (haha) me. Hopefully I'll begin work on it at some point again.

Looking backish
By: Tuller - 11-16-2009 11:30 PM
Tuller's Avatar I wrote the following a few weeks ago as a response to a person on Curse asking about Bongos_Minimap, and thought I would share:
Quote:
I'm a crazy person, I know this. The end result is I end up doing the following:
* Use some addon, or come up with an idea, and think, "hey, I should make this"
* Create something
* Release it.
* Get it to a point of stability
* Work on something else
* Decide, "hey, there are things I'd like to do over"
* Rewrite the entire thing.
* Release it.
* Repeat

This is why Bongos, the Dominos betas of Bongos (tabbed bars), Bongos2, Bongos3, and Dominos. Each one is the result of me trying an idea, then something happening (either me not liking the end result, or a patch breaking everything). Bongos2 existed because of wow 2.0. Bongos3 existed to try and resolve common issues people experienced with Bongos2, Dominos exists because I felt I was doing too much with Bongos3.

Bongos_Minimap was the end result of me thinking, "Wouldn't it be great if I made it possible to move anything using the Bongos frame system?" Eventually another user expanded upon the idea and created Cornucopia. I ended up dropping support for the minimap module because I felt I had increased the scope of Bongos too much. (Bongos/Dominos is strictly limited to only modify things that it needs to as a result of breaking up the main action bar into movable parts).

Bongos_Stats existed because Bongos disabled the ping display, I did not feel like running Titan Panel to get one :P I dropped it when blizzard added a ping display to the menu bar.

Anyway, here are my two crazy ideas that could ever lead to another Bongos:
* An unlimited actionbars that you draw on the screen type addon. (think a simpler, easier to use macaroon).
* An addon with per _state_ layouts: Your interface will be able to completely change when in bear/cat/holding down alt/etc.
I just went and read through all of my blog posts here, too.

Building a better? Bagnon
By: Tuller - 05-29-2009 08:23 AM
Tuller's Avatar So, I'm now working on writing a completely new version of Bagnon. This version may or may not ever be released. I'm basically experimenting with a slightly different style of programming in order to hopefully maximize the amount of code I can reuse between Combuctor and Bagnon. Hopefully, you all will see something out of this project within a week or two.

WoW 3.0'd
By: Tuller - 10-22-2008 09:01 AM
Tuller's Avatar The Second Great Sundering (the first being WoW 2.0) has happened. It'll be interesting to see what the addon landscape looks like after the dust has finally settled. In the ideal world, all Bongos2 users will move on to Dominos/Bartender4, and all Bongos3/Trinity/Flexbar3 users will move on to Macaroon.

Anyway, here's what I learned on patch day:

People liked Bongos3 (actually, I knew this already :P). A lot of people were still using Bongos2. Dominos is really a Bongos2 replacement more than it is a Bongos3 one, so those Bongos3 users who were really using all of the features of Bongos3 are now a bit lost.

I had a lot of usability tweaks to make to Dominos, hence the need for 1.6.x and 1.7.x. I think I've gotten most of the usability problems out of the way, but probably will make a few more tweaks before I'm done.

A lot of people don't read the full addon description before downloading stuff. Evidence: everyone who asked about out of range coloring

Blizzard broke more things than I thought. Evidence: LOD addons & Vista users.

And here are my plans for the future:

A Bagnon rewriteish. Need to fix a lot of display bugs, and I think redo Bagnon_Forever a bit.

The return of Sage in some form. I'll likely be based off Dominos bar code (Sage 1.0 and 2.0 were based off of/were the basis for the bar code in Bongos1 and Bongos2). Major new things will be a higher priority in display for your buffs/debuffs, along with some way of displaying threat.

More usability improvements to Dominos. Bartender4 has a good model for show states that I'll probably implement in Dominos. I also like the custom state header implementation, too, but I'll probably not port that over. Sliders will likely be added for things like max number of action buttons per bar, and number of action bars. I just need to remember to add a prompt telling users that adjusting the setting will reset their bar layout. I'm also considering including a red range type addon in the download, not so much for the people who cannot read, but more to address the realish problem of not being able to adjust the OOR color.

More Combuctor features. I'll be refining/rewriting the set api, adding in configuration options for how and when Combuctor should automatically display.

Plans Pt2
By: Tuller - 10-03-2008 07:06 AM
Tuller's Avatar Okay, we're rapidly approaching the release of 3.0.2 on retail (October 14th). Here's what's left to do:

Dominos
  • Fix some remaining bugs
  • Publish the Dominos guide, like the Bongos3 one. I consider this really, really, important, since when 3.0.2 hits, everybody's old action bars are no longer going to work. Users of Bongos2, Bongos3, Bartender3, TrinityBars, InfiniBar, FlexBar2: they're all going to be looking either for an upgraded version of their stuff, or even at just new things that are 3.0 compatible. I want to give them a warm welcome :P

Combuctor
  • Complete the new version. There's big changes in it :P

Bagnon and OmniCC are complete as far as 3.0.2 compatibility goes. I really still want to do a complete code review of Bagnon, since after looking at it again, its a bit messy. OmniCC is right where I want it to be, I think.

SellFish and Ludwig are complete. Ludwig should be revisited in the future at some point, since again, its old code :P

Sage: I'm thinking Wrath will be the target date for a new version. There's just so much to do, and not enough time.
