Bongos2  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 1.10.1
by: Tuller [More]

I have written a new action bar addon, called Dominos, and am no longer supporting this one. Please feel free to try it out, along with Trinity Bars, and Bartender 3

Bongos is an action bar replacement designed to be both low memory, and easy to setup. It is not as feature rich as other bar mods, but should include the features most commonly used.

Version History
A Brief Guide

Included Addons

  • Bongos2: The core addon.
  • Bongos2 ActionBar: Breaks up the main action bar into movable parts
  • Bongos2 Stats: A display for latency, framerate, and memory usage
  • Bongos2 RollBar: Makes the frame for rolling on items movable
  • Bongos2 CastBar: A movable casting bar, with the ability to show cast time
  • Bongos2 XP: A movable experience bar
  • Bongos2 MapBar: A movable mapbar
  • Bongos2 Options: A dynamically loaded options menu for Bongos

Features
  • Every Bongos bar can be moved, hidden, and have its scale and opacity altered
  • Sticky bars - Each bar can be anchored to any other bar
  • 120 action buttons, which can be setup in any number of bars
  • Both macro and key binding text on action buttons can be hidden
  • Customizable stance transitions for each bar

General Settings
  • To bring up the options menu: type /bongos menu
  • To unlock bars: uncheck the lock bars option in the main options menu
  • To hide or show a bar: unlock bars, then middle click or shift right click it
  • To move a bar: unlock bars, and then click and drag it with the left mouse button
  • To bring up a bar's configuration menu, right click it

Key Bindings
  • Bindings for the Bongos action bar should only be done via the bindings menu in Bongos
  • To bind keys, open the main options panel, and select the bindings option. Hover over a button, then press a key to bind it to that button

Action Bar Settings
  • Accessing general action bar options: open up the main options window (/bongos menu) and select the action bars panel
  • Adjusting the layout of a given bar: unlock bars and right click the bar you want to adjust to bring up its configuration menu
  • Moving buttons: Hold down the key for moving buttons (shift by default), and drag a button. Alternatively, unlock button positions by shift right clicking the mini map button, or unchecking the option in the main options menu
  • Making a bar bigger: You can increase the maximum size of a given bar by reducing the number of action bars. To do so, adjust the action bars slider on the action bar panel of the main options menu. This option will reset the settings of your action bars

Stances and Paging
  • Stances and paging are configured via a bar's right click menu. With bars unlocked, right click the bar you want to change,

Slash Commands
  • All commands start with either /bongos, /bob, or /bgs
  • <barList> can have a possible value of an actionbar number, menu, bags, pet. class, or all
  • You can also specify a group or range of bars, the command /bo scale 1-3 class 1.2 will scale action bars 1 2 3, and the class bar to 120% of their normal size.
  • /bongos - Shows the options menu, if present
  • /bongos lock - Toggles locking bars positions
  • /bongos show <barList> - Shows <barList>
  • /bongos hide <barList> - Hides <barList>
  • /bongos toggle <barList> - Toggles <barList>
  • /bongos scale <barList> <scale> - Sets the scale of <barList> to <scale>
  • /bongos setalpha <barList> <opacity> - Sets the opacity of <barList> to <opacity>
  • /bongos set <profile> - Sets the current character to use <profile>
  • /bongos copy <profile> - Copies all settings from <profile>
  • /bongos delete <profile> - Deletes <profile>
  • /bongos reset - Loads default settings
  • /bongos version - Displays what version of bongos you're running
  • /keybound - Toggles keybinding mode

Invalid target error with Bongos

EDIT I figured it out... Self-cast key was set to the ALT key.

Hello, I'm using Bongos 6.8.22b, and I'm seeing something quite weird that wasn't happening prior to WoW patch 1.12.

I'm not sure if it's a problem with Bongos or not.

I have two combat abilities on bar 2, buttons 1 and 2. It doesn't matter what these abilities are, it happens with both my rogue (e.g., Expose Armor and Ghostly Strike) and my mage (e.g., Fireball and Frostbolt). I have these buttons--ActionButton13 and ActionButton14--mapped to Alt-1 and Alt-2, respectively.

During combat, activating these buttons using their key bindings, I get an "Invalid Target" message" sporadically. It can happen to either button, randomly (but never seems to happen to both in the same battle), and when it happens, it's like that for the duration of the fight. BUT: If I mouseclick on the buttons instead (during the same engagement, after the problem has occured), it'll work again.

Like I said, it's very weird. Maybe tonight I'll disable Bongos and see if it happens with the default WoW action buttons. But I just thought I'd let you know.

"Lock Buttons" seems to be unchecking itself. Anyone experience something similar?

EDIT: I noticed that even though "Lock Buttons" is unchecked I'm unable to move my buttons.

I'll answer this one

Yeah, that sounds like Bongos. It's telling you what the hotkey for that button is. CF1 would be short for Control-F1 I'd say.

And yes, you can disable the showing of hotkeys in the Bongos options. Should be straightforward.

i'm rather having an interesting issue...

i updated the newest bongos today, and whenever i zone in and out from instances, battlegrounds, actionbar 1 moves to bottom right side of my screen, and i have to unlock and mess with the "lock bar positions" then "Size" by right clicking on bar 1.

i have to do this everytime i go in and out of instances... anyone having that problem? :x

edit: heh, nm. it was conflicting with ct-bar mod... i forgot to get rid of it ;p

Bongos is for 1.12, I haven't tested it with other locales yet.

Cleared out my bongos install and dropped bongos and bongos options into the addons directory, no bongos.

Deleted my LUA files from WTF, still no bongos.
I split Bongos into two addons, Bongos and Bongos_actionbar. You'll need the actionbar component to have actionbars.

Why do the bars in 6.7.30 look better than the bars on the newest version ? Or is it just me ?

Not working for me in 1.12

Disabled all other addons but bongos and bongo options and still no bongos--doesn't look like a conflict.

I can /bob and get options, but the default blizzard action bar is there, and there are no bars in the "visible" tab.

Anyone running into this issue?

Range Coloring

I'm using 6.8.21 and the range coloring is acting strange. I disabled it in the bongos options and now it still colors the buttons sometimes.

is the "sticky" feature not working?

EDIT: I removed all addons except Bongos and now everything is working fine.

1.12

Delete all Bongos folders from your addon directory before installing.
/bg is now /bob since /bg is used for battlegrounds chat.
/bstats was removed. Use /bob toggle stats instead.

Custom Scripts - Yes, you can do those now. It works similar to how ItemRack handles them. You're going to want to know lua, wow api functions (www.wowwiki.com), and probably functions from my own code. Its not going to be extremely easy to do at this point in time.

Here's an example custom script for making the first actionbar show only when you have a target:
Code:
bar: 1
event: PLAYER_TARGET_CHANGED
action:
if UnitExists("target") then
bar:Show()
else
bar:Hide()
end

Run at Load: Checked
All custom scripts have access to both what event is being called (event), and also what bar the script is being called for (bar). When specifying a bar, all can be used to make the action occur to all bongos bars.

Here's another example, this time one where the second actionbar will change pages when shapeshifting:
Code:
bar: 1
event: UPDATE_BONUS_ACTIONBAR
action:
BActionBar.SetStanceOffset(bar.id, GetBonusBarOffset())
This one uses a function I've defined in actionbar\bar.lua.
